Mmmmmm
Fitted my V3’s during lockdown so didn’t really get any driving time with apart from some trips around the block at night to marvel at the LED dips which are just amazing!
But here’s the rub......
On three occasions now I have been nearly sideswiped at roundabouts turning right where people have just not known I was going around. On each occasion it has been brilliant sunshine.
my gut feeling is that the LED indicators are just not bright enough. Put it this way, I never had anybody cut me up on the roundabout like this before.
the other thing that makes me suspect the indicators is on two of the occasions I was ‘beeped’ at, let’s be honest it’s what I would do if somebody wasn’t indicating on a roundabout.
I don’t know if anybody else has had this and I suspect it would’nt be the same for the V2’s as the DRL/Indicator is not opaque like the V3.
Overall though I would still recommend them, I’m waiting for the H1 LED main beam to be released and I will retrofit that to make it a complete LED setup

That's very interesting to hear. I have H4s with upgraded bulbs. They're still dire, so I'm looking to upgrade. I stopped yesterday to chat with a fella in a T6 with V3s. In reasonably bright sunshine, his indicators were not clear and bright. I thought at the time some people might not register the indicators were on, they were so much more feeble than OEM. He raved about the dip beam though. I think I might just have to go the whole hog and go OEM LED. I think if I don't, I'll always have the nagging concern that I wish I had done.

In the meantime, H4s with 100/90s are a huge improvement on stock.

Like the sound of the repeaters Martin, can you post some pics and a link to where you purchased them from please . Cheers

Here's the thread on dynamic indicators on the mirrors. I did the same whilst lockdown was on..

They look mega (IMHO). I'm such a sucker for sweeping indicators, I've just put some on my tipper trailer.....

Thats the conclusion that i came to as well @catfood12 ,i did ponder the v3's for a while but i think even if i had got some,i would have still ending up taking them back out and fitting oem's. I know the cost is about 4 times dearer but they look fantastic to me. I have been buying the parts for the upgrade and am just waiting on a couple of bits then hopefully it will be getting done. I have never heard anyone say they regretted fitting oem but i have now heard a couple of people that are unhappy with the v3's and yes i am the same with the sequential indicators, love them

Well this happened to our T6 last week!!!!!!!!!!! To say the wife was unhappy when it got hit at work was an understatement. Anyhow , whist its being repaired I'm updating the standard factory lights and as the heading suggest should we opt for the V2 or V3 of Transporter HQ's headlamps?

Thanks

Andy.

V2’s for me. Firstly, that’s what I have so slightly biased. Secondly, in my opinion, they look a bit odd as there’s just an empty space where the indicator should go. Thirdly, I’ve read a few stories where people have almost had accidents at roundabouts due to the indicators not being bright enough in bright day light!

The V3’s however have a nice diffused DRL which makes them look cool AF!

V2 are good if you tidy up the wiring loom, threads on this forum.
Some complaining about the V3 performance in comparison with the V2.

I have V3 and I’m happy with them although I am a bit paranoid after reading others comments that people can’t see my indicators. Funny really because the amount of people driving round now that seem to think they are an optional extra obviously don’t care whether other drivers know what they are doing anyway! Anyway, I have the parts to put the sequential indicators in the mirrors so I’ll do that after the summer and then there will be another forward facing indicator.

Whichever you choose it might be worth upgrading the bulbs while you are at it. I bought my V3’s with the upgraded lamps (not the LEDs as they are technically legal) but have since bought the set from the link below which come with good recommendations. I will fit them next time I have the bumper off

Bad luck on the bump!
I have V3s & would probably go V2 if I was buying again. The DRL strip needs to be brighter & I just think it looks cheap being as dull as they are, but thats just my opinion.
Does then means that the indicator is barely visible with a hint of sun about, although as cgtmiles said above, so many people dont bother indicating these days anyway!
I did buy the LED H7 bulbs too & they are great

Hi.. just had a thought ...if they are replacing the light/ lights could you possibly pay the extra and get factory led units as an option

Well at least the damage is reasonably confined and an ideal time to upgrade when someone else is paying for it!...im guessing the arse end of an artic clipped it?

I went v1s with leds and love them, please ignore the light on the floor as I needed to moved the led round to sort it

these were fitted last week 194D5882-3B3C-43C1-B6DD-81E83B39D0AF.webp

I'd get a set of OEM H4's to go for the stealth look at night:rofl:

But I'd go for the V2 or V3 depending on if you like the changes on the V3.

Hope you get your van back and repaired soon

Spot on mate , it was only the wife's second day back in work after being on furlough, an hgv misjudged his over hang a rear when turning. At least he stopped and gave all his details.

I know the thread is a bit old now but has anyone fitted alternatives to Transporter HQ?
I was looking at Van Tech £399 or Advanced In Car Technologies £599 (both supply only)
It would be great to know if the AICT ones are worth the additional £200!

You mean these Volkswagen Transporter T6 LED DRL Headlights These are THQ V2’s - I know because I bought a set from @Inthezone and he’d bought them from there.
They have updated bulbs but not worth the extra £££
