Thanks Pauly yep fitted loom and took off and connected without, I have contacted HQ and wait for them to get back to me, @andys yes had rear light issue as well Hq customer service is good though and they are sending replacement.

This is what mainly puts me off these Chinese lights, almost everyone has problems with them. I notice you had a faulty rear one sent as well @Buzznitro ?

I agree,, what's the longevity going to be like too. They ain't cheap either. If it was me I'd stay genuine and go the H7 upgrade route. Luckily for me I have genuine Led lights so not an issue.

Could you post a before and after pic of the mods you intend to carry out,id like to do the same to mine. Ti be fair I've not even opened the box yet to see what theyre like!.

Not impressed with the wiring on the THQ V2 head lights, see photos for before and after.
I’ve used split conduit (ebay), as ordered by the meter; 1m of 12mm and 3m of 6.5mm. Plus self amalgamating tape, tyraps and 4x 10mm P clips.
The smallest gauge wires exiting the aluminuim box are tight and running over a sharp edge, I’ve placed some self amalgamating tape over this area. It would be possible to re-mount the box to provide some slack, I’ll see how much space there is when the light is mounted in the van.
I’ve packed silicone grease into the voids behind connectors where there are no glands to prevent water ingress.
It still leaves 4 external boxes of electronics on each light open to the elements as these boxes are not sealed.
Time will tell.

Sat here having a cuppa thinking WTF, I’ve spent 49K on a van that can’t be driven over 60MPH at night, spent another 400 quid on head lights and then another couple of hours to make the brand new lights fit for purpose!

Yeah, kinda takes the shine off the whole thing when you put it like that.

I spend more time working on my 3 year old van than my 19 year old A4, if only they made ‘em like they used to.

Spose il have to get mine out of the box and see what i have to do to sort em out before thq fit em.

Must admit, my heart sank a bit when I opened the box and saw the wiring. I wish I’d been aware of how shit the H4 stock lights were when I was shopping. Might have held out for an LED equipped one.

Ran out of time to fit this weekend but have reserved next Sunday for this. Really need to do something as driving down some unlit roads had me self-limiting to 50 this past week.

I was going to buy some of the THQ Led rear lights but after reading some of the comments on this thread i dont think i'll bother. Dodgy wiring worries me :(

Let me clarify, I think the wiring is probably perfectly fine, but I suspect like a few others here I'm a bit 'belt and braces' when it comes to these things. OEM or better is what I aim for, since I prefer to avoid potential problems rather than fix them.

I'm less concerned about the appearance of the wiring and more with the fact that the lights I've seen on various threads recently don't seem to work.

Well gents been to THQ today, I have got to say first class service from them, Andy and team sorted my issues with my lights I was just unlucky, rears fitted and fronts.
Thanks THQ.

How do you mean 'unlucky'?
We're the lights defective

I had mine fitted last Friday at THQ (black versions), no issues at all with them. The light projection is much better, I went for the super white bulbs which do give whiter light output.

I also went for the LED foglights, a bit gimmicky but look good.

The customer service at THQ was excellent. Turned up at 2.30pm, got a brew shoved in my hand and they immediately got cracking. I was out of there at 3pm a very happy camper!

Wow, that’s pit lane quick.

Have you got any nighttime photos of the projection on the road that you can share? I ask as feedback from the first version seemed to indicate they were similar in output to H7’s, so an improvement would be a deal maker for me.

So what about the water ingress issues gents? I presume they haven't gone away. It's been precipitating tonight...
I want to do mine but as summer (?) comes the light nights keep putting it on the back burner.

Any pics of the black versions?
