For anyone that was following, I've ordered the 245/45/20 103 fronts and 275/40/20 106 rears to be fitted tomorrow 😀 Went for Accelera budgets so interested to see how they are, for £350 fitted even if they're crap I haven't lost much, and gives me time to work out what to do with the suspension next 🤔

I'm in 265/40/20 all round, 8.5" front 10" rest 4Motion. I'm looking at wheels as well and I did read somewhere that 255 was the maximum (recommended) width for an 8.5" rim job.

My fronts do look a bit balloony and the rears a bit stretched ...
Any photos dude?

Rear Michelin CC3 265/40/20 10J ET38
Front Michelin CC3 Sport 245/45/20 8.5J ET45 with 10mm Spacers
flush with the arches, 70mm lowered (Eibach Pro-Street Coilover), CRS
Driving 38-40PSI, no rubbing.

Tyres are a bit louder than the CC2, good grip, have only done 2000 miles so can't judge really.

Awesome ride 👌 Did you need different bolts to use with the 10mm spacers on the front?

Think I'll be dropping mine from 40mm to 70mm based on this!

Sorry to ask a question that may have already been answered but am currently running 275/40/20s on 20x9s and getting the dreaded rubbing at full lock

An opportunity has come up for a set of 245/45/20s and I read lots of people running this on an 8/8.5 but why are thoughts on doing so on a 9” wheel?

Van is a T30 with rarely much weight in it and rears I’ll probably keen the 275s going til they need trplwced

Thanks in advance

Just get a heat gun and manipulate the arch liner . Doesn’t need much but if you need new tyres then you could . I had 245 on mine but they had a stretched looks but the drag by the wheels was a lot less and the van was faster but in went back to 275 for rim protection and because of all the potholes

I run those on s 9" just fine.

Can't offer experience of 245 on a 9j, but on an 8.5J they still have quite a bulge from the wheel to protect the rims. I don't think an extra 12mm wheel width will make too much difference and make them look stretched.
However, as someone who went from 275/40 to 245/45 I can say that the ride is smoother with the less harsh 103 sidewall, steering is smoother and lighter, pickup on setting off is noticeably easier and it's just an all round nicer drive.
I've just put some Uniroyal Rainsports on and they seem to live up to their name in this current monsoon season.

245/45 ?

Still very surprised to see companies and individuals using 275/40/20 on these vans. These are the wrong tyres in every way, yes they can be cheap and available and some people incorrectly think that more sidewall will give a more comfortable ride. They are physically too big as the rolling radius is considerably bigger than standard OEM tyres upon which the gearing is based. On low power vans these tyres will make it struggle going up hills and blunt any acceleration that may be available. The vast majority of rims that they are used on are 9" and 275 is too wide for these causing a bulge where the tyre contacts the road. This is not good for the sidewall and adds to the boaty wandering handling. Lastly, most if not all 275/40/20 are 106 load rated which is far too high. A lot of people don't know what load rating is but buy these anyway. The higher the load rating the stiffer the sidewall and 106's give pretty stiff ride quality. If your van is a T28/T30 then you need 101 and if its a T32 you need 103, there is no point getting any higher as it's not a case of 'higher is better'. I've also heard a lot of people getting 275/40/20 106 as that what was on the van when they bought it ... no point just compounding the previous owner's mistake/ignorance. I also know of people that were happy with their tyres until they tried the proper ones and then they could really see the difference. I'm running Bridgestone Potenza Sport 255/40/20 101 on my T30 and they are fantastic. Before that I had Uniroyal Rainsport 5's in the same size that were also very good. Wheels are 9X20.

Have you go any pics per chance?
Its probably not going to show you what you want to see as its not the right angle , they haven't been on too long and the weather has been pants so the van has been ditched since.

I went from 275>245 and it was much better, no scrubbing and felt nicer on the road. When I went from 8.5>9 it was barely noticeable tyres look right rather than slab sided but I dont care much for stance/poke/tuck etc so can't tell you in any more detail than that
