So I’ve just got round to fitting my terminator HID in my thq headlights all working fine. Looking forward to seeing how they are in the dark!
The Philips LED main beam that has never worked since installing them the other week still doesn’t work so I’ve put the old halogen main beam back in which works fine.
What have people found to be the best bulb for main beam? I’ve also just ordered the wire kit to keep dipped and main on together
Thanks

These LEDs and resistors work on main beam fine in my T6, no error lights or flickering:

They are stupidly bright, so to be used with discretion..

Hi all,

Does anyone have a video of these V3 lights they’re able to share? Keen to upgrade my lights but would like to know if it’s worth waiting for these newer versions.

IMG_20200120_172931.webp Fitted my hids today. This is what my beam pattern looks like. Is this right?.

So theres no "prongs" as such on the bulbs?. I had them fitted for me. Do i need to remove the air box top etc?.

The bulb holders in the lights do have recesses to locate bulb tabs. I’m not sure it’s a bulb seating issue, it could be beam alignment. There are 10mm (I think from memory) hex screws on the back of the headlights that you use to adjust the beam up/down.

It might be worth checking the bulb is sat properly first and yes, if you remove the top of the air box it is much easier to get at. A little inspection mirror helps too if you’ve got anything like that.

If it is sat well then I would look to adjust the beam direction using those screws.

Is there a right or wrong way to fit the bulbs?. If they are in the right way would you say i need to adjust it up or down?.

I don't think there's anything wrong with how the bulb is sat in the holder. The beam pattern looks OK, just not aligned correctly. Mikem posted a generic beam pattern picture, but the THQ projectors don't give you that pattern. The drivers beam doesn't go up and then back down, it goes up and stays there to meet the passenger side beam. Adjusted correctly the beam will look something like the image below.

In your image the beam looks too low, but it's very hard to tell because the ground isn't level. A local MOT centre can adjust your beam spot on for a few beer tokens, that's what I would recommend.

If you want to have a go yourself you need to get parked up on level ground with lights on the wall to get a better idea.

IMG_20200121_070454.webp Took some pics and this is what im getting. They both seem to look like the pic you just posted and I've tried the adjusters. The offside is very different to the near side. Pic 1 offside pic 2 nearside. I've not been able to tell if the bulb is seated right.
The offside pic looks like a keyhole and is giving a unusual pattern if you see the first pic i posted you see it on the floor.

I’m certainly no expert but to me it looks like the bulb itself has to do a 180. There is a key way in the socket and a tab on the bulb- I found taking a picture with my phone inside the lamp was a good way of checking the bulb was aligned right. I had similar to you and found turning it round sorted it out.

Thanks for that, thats what i was hoping for. Il go back to my spark and give it a twist...watch this space!.

Agreed, the shadow in that image does makes it look like the bulb isn't in there correctly.

@fezza68 once you're happy that it's in there properly, park up on some level ground opposite a wall and get a photo of the beam pattern on the wall and you'll see if the alignment is right too.

If your bulb doesn't have a tab that seats it in the correct position in the light, then the bar on the bulb needs to be on the bottom. The shadow you can see is cast from the bar.

Thanks guys for all your help,il get it sorted over the next few days when i get time.

just for info, I put one of my bulbs in unseated and it looked like your photo.

From what I can see of your headlight photo, the reflector looks close to being lined up.

The adjusters will not allow you to point at the ground with the reflector, check the bulb is the right way up and the tab is seated.

If the bulb is upside down, the tab will not seat in the recess and will force the bulb on an angle, giving you that weird focus.

If you move the bulb around with your hand, you can move the hotspot without moving the headlight reflector, so in short, before messing around with anything else, verify that the bulb is the correct way up and the locating tab properly seated in its recess...
