So, I've done the dark hour or so to work this morning and it's given me a chance to test my new lights for the first time. No longer do I have to sit there feeling jealous when someone cruises past me on an ocean of light, because I am one of those people myself. These headlights are ....................... (insert any choice of superlative here, really, anything, they are that good).

Anyone who might have been following this thread and is thinking "is it worth it?" Yes, yes it is. DO IT!

I think I might have caught the retrofit bug, I quite fancy a bit of high beam assist next....

My plan is to make my own loom using the information from @Robert in this post. I plan to start with the levelling sensors etc and then run the loom to the headlights ready. Then fit the lights & code last to reduce down time...

Funny you should say this, I have downloaded all the schematics from erWin!

I have a cheeky trick up my sleeve to save on labour time and parts costs... all I will say for now is kufatech Xenon harness.....

Watch this space...

I am after help with coding. I have installed LEDs with Pauly's wiring loom. Managed to work out how to code it, tried few options mentioned on here, but getting full beam errors and the flasher does not work when only DRLs are on. Works perfect when the dipped lights are on.

Fault codes - 1499 - Bulb for High Beams.

Should DRL dim when indicating ?

My van is T6 Highline with fogs and light sensor.

Old coding:

Thank you

Yes it’s possible if you are resourceful with a bit of reutilisation of cables, 56 and 28 can double (same as if you have barn doors)

Did you check these codings --> T6 LED headlight retrofit?
Could you please post your current coding?

It's a selectable function. With your old coding - no, doesn't dim. Byte 23, bit 7.

Thank you mmi. I have barn doors on mine, not sure if that could cause any problems.

I will post current coding tomorrow.

Amazing thread guys, huge credit to the chaps involved to get it this far.

This is becoming a realistic upgrade for me now I feel, out of curiosity has anyone priced the parts new, if I wanted to speed the process up rather than waiting on used. I would go with Paulys looms if possible which from reading the full post this will cut back on some items.

Thanks
Paul

I’ve got everything brand new (except for the range control unit) and its coming in at £1800 inc vat!! More than I was hoping to spend but I suspect if you waited you could save a bit more? The headlamps themselves are expensive and the levellers but as I figured these were the bits you’d see and or likely to wear so I wanted new. However the ballast packs on eBay aren’t much more new over used.

Thanks Paul, that's very helpful.

Not too bad really tho for headlights of that standard I feel.

My advice would be to get a list of prices from VW as a start point (just make sure you’re sitting down when you do!!) and then work from there, BTW some things on eBay were more expensive than from VW. Then shop around and source the bits form where you can. I think if you waited and went used you could do this for the £1000-£1100 that others have.

Are you installing the levelling system ?
Pins 1/2/3/4 are for range control/servomotor so if you are not doing the levelling these will be unused

I dont have all the pinouts to hand for the LED looms that i make but the list above does not look correct, for example pin 8 takes a 12v feed (originally pin 1 on H4 headlights) and this does nothing, there isnt even a connection in pin 8 on the back of the headlight but you list it as highbeam and say the headlights are working ?

Im confused ?
Listing some info for when I do my retrofit on Wednesday

I’ve been reading this thread with interest since getting my T6.

Although pretty confident working on my own vehicles I don’t have the time or undercover space to tackle this myself so looking for recommendations of installers to do the full job with OEM parts, want self levelled but no washers needed.

I’ve used Professional Retrofits for towbar and cruise control on my old T5 so inclined to use him for this.

Anyone had them done by them or other companies they would recommend?

Hazydayz do a retrofit, just make sure you’re sitting down when you see the price!!

Hello guys,
I also need your help ...

I have a VW Caravelle 2017 from the EU ... LEFT STEERING WHEEL !!!
I changed the headlights and taillights on the back.
I installed the original VW parts.
I mention that I did not install leveling sensors!

On the back everything works perfectly but on the face, at the headlights I have a problem!

1) When starting the position (first step) of the button with the ENGINE OFF
the DRL lights up at maximum intensity,
when I turn on the low beam the DRL is lit at maximum intensity together with the low beam

2) When I start the engine, the DRL does not light up ... when I put the position (first step) DRL appears at maximum intensity

3) I have on the left side (driver's side) 2 wires that do not know where to connect them
red / blue and yellow / gray

4) I have on the right side (passenger side) 1 RED / BLUE electrical wire that I do not know where to tie it

upload_2020-2-26_22-37-8.png

I made the following connections:

RIGHT PART (passenger side) LEFT PART (driver side)

CAR INSTALLATION 14 PIN CAR INSTALLATION 14 PIN

BLACK / GREEN -> PIN 9 YELLOW / BLACK ---> PIN 6
BROWN (thin thread) -> PIN 7 GRAY / RED ---> PIN 10
BROWN (thick thread) -> PIN 5 GRAY / BLACK ---> PIN 12
YELLOW -> PIN 6 WHITE / BLACK (thick thread) ---> PIN 11
GRAY -> PIN 12 WHITE / BLACK (thin thread) ---> PIN 9
WHITE ---> PIN 11 BROWN ---> PIN 5
RED / BLUE ---> PIN ??? BROWN ---> PIN 7
RED / BLUE ---> PIN ???
YELLOW / GRI ---> PIN ???

PIN ---> 1,2,3,4,13,14 ARE FREE PIN ---> 1,2,3,4,13,14 ARE FREE

I had the coding on 09 CENTRAL ELECTRIC :

7BA839BA2A21201200200F747C6B8CD4FF0069FF60EC4960320400A30800

new cod

6BF279BA2A21209300288F407EEB8FFCD0A4738960ED79603204033F0860

I put this code because I still have a 2017 CARAVELLE HIGHLINE, 4Motion, DSG
and has original LED headlights from the factory.
With this code does not tremble (no flash) position, short beam, long beam
Everything goes well with this code just like:
the position does not work and the DRL is maximum intensity all the time!
I know the autolevelling will not work ... maybe from the button inside the car!
WHERE WIRES MUST BE CONNECTED THAT IN THE ... 14 PIN ???

... what,where am I wrong?

Below are some pictures for more details
Thank you!
Have a nice day everyone's!
