California bed and furniture choice

Just come across this thread! I got Oxford T5 to fit a California bed in my T5 in 2017, alongside an EVO DESIGN side galley. At the time there were very few threads on it. For the "Multi-board" at the back I got the taller Caravelle (I think!) rail legs and had a fabricator shorten the height and fitted a hinged ply top. It was always a temporary measure and am going to re-do it this year so lots of ideas here.

Has anyone had the bench recovered, or bought slip covers to go on? I see these guys in Germany do them. Anywhere else I should look please?

Yep, this is why I have to unpick the OEM welds to shorten it. I use the OEM Cali mattress which is stepped (deeper at the rear) but if a flat one was used then shortening it wouldn't be necessary.

So you have a 3. seat Cali bed, not the 2 seat one that goes with the Cali with the units in?

Hi Hubert. These are the only other ones I can find. I used insert nuts on the kitchen side and the oem bolts screwed into them.
Vw moved away from this style of multiflex board to a hinged board. I also did the same for my current van and find it much more useful. I can't find any pictures of it now but I'll take some later and send them on.

Thanks a lot for these and seems fairly straightforward to replicate. If you do get a chance to take couple photos of new hinge board that would be great.

I know a lot of people went for smaller or foldable boards due to space but I am still debating it. I’m on LWB so have bit more space to lose then others

Finally managed to find some time to fit the OEM California bed extension.

Had to modify the bed board as mentioned previously to flip it. I also had to cut metal section of bracket which was clashing with wheel arch on passenger side and grind out a section to add another OEM fixing point.

Very happy with the outcome and a it’s completely removable the same as normal California.

That looks amazing. Seeing this has got me thinking about replacing my crappy bed extension again.
