Stage-4 will be getting around to fitting the BIG-BOY-PANTS kit i ripped out the old T5.1

there are some details over here : Alternator Upgrade

A thread started by @Rabbit that shows some more of the back ground into these setups.

I had the 15" kicker sub directly behind the drivers seat facing forwards at floor level.
its about 20mm back from the bulkhead so rattles the hell out of it. . . . on the last install i cut 4x 150mm holes infront of the box to allow sound into the cab.

but i think on this build ill cut a big square out in front of the box....

and adding the second amp to run the mids/tops helps balance out the power levels with the amped sub.

the 2x amps are:

Kenwood KAC-X4D (bridged 4ch giving 2x300w rms for front mids and tops )

Maximum power output 1200W

Rated power output (4Ω) 120W x 4 (4Ω)

Rated power output 150W x 4 (2Ω)

Bridged power output (4Ω) 300W x 2

and

Kenwood KAC-X1D (monoblock on 2ohm 700w rms )

Maximum power output (4Ω) 1600W x 1

Rated power output (4Ω, 14,4V) 600W x 1 (20Hz ~ 200Hz, 1%THD)

Rated power output (2Ω, 14,4V) 700W x 1 (100Hz, 1%THD)

Rated power output (CEA-2006) 600Watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms and 1% THD

and the sub: boxed 15" L7 Solo-Baric L7S 15 Inch Subwoofer | KICKER®

looking at some power levels for charging etc:
just checked mine..

same thing, battery charging current ,. . . . 20amps dropping down to 14amps (on the main red pos cable)

quick vid here >>>>>

*********************************************************

as for wattage . . . . i normally esitimate 100amp supply per 1000w load.

so for either inverters or amplifiers id install supply feeds like this:

500w/ 50A
1000w/ 100A
1500w/ 150A
2000w/ 200A
3000w/ 2x150A

but as you have now seen these are theoretical max currents.

so volt drop and in efficiency's play into it as you have now seen with your new meter.

so a 1000w inveter will happily tick over drawing 50-80 amps with a moderate load..... but will very rarely surge to 100a or over.

the best thing you can do is run proper beefy power cable and fuse appropriately.

these are on my todo list (Kicker 15" L7 solo baric) on a kenwood monoblock and kenwood 2chnl running mids and tops up front. . . . . . .

just thrown in for now as a place saver, but will need to cut out the bulkhead again.(behind drivers seat)

Things to note, with big power in the back of a Panel Van the Bulk head will wrattle your brain to bits . . . .

so last time i done similar to this:

Credits to @Rabbit for his pics to get an idea of houw to get around the problem . . .

I've got an RE MX18 in the loft I might part with, under hung motor with Neodymium magnet so almost tiny, 4" voice coil, dual 2 ohm, 70mm Xmax, not saying it would walk all over an L7 or is a bit more musical just know it will never get into the camper and is too big for the Popemobile, was happy on my JL 1000/1, 7 cu ft sealed or 11 cu ft ported.:sneaky:
