Following on from Stage-2 i was looking at getting a small sub (just for now) as the 15" Kicker and big amps are still laying dormant waiting for a nice bit of summer weather to be fitted.

which lead be to a range of powered under seat Subs . . . . . . coming from a Large PA/Disco/ICE install background i just weren't feeling these range of small slimline mini subs . . . . i thought a dedicated sealed box with a 8" or 10" and small amp was the way to go . . . . .

It seemed like Skipton agreed with my philosophy and had a nice small kit ready to go:

Amplifer & Sub Upgrades

so i decided tro try this kit :

VW T6 JBL Amplifier & Sub Space Saving Combo

.

VW T6 JBL Amplifier & Sub Space Saving Combo

£269.99

Check out this space saving combo, Vibe micro amplifier powering a JBL Sub woofer in our new compact box.

This fits easily in one half of a double seat or in a single seat.

This includes the amplifier wiring kit.

Great value considering some companies charge almost that for an MDF sub box.

............

This time the kit arrived promptly from Skipton - well done guys, the only problem i had was the total lack on information on the website page on what you was actually getting - so it was kinda a gamble.....

what vibe amp was i going to get?
what was the spec of the sub?
what was the dimensions of the box?
what was the wire kit like?
was it plug n play or not?

well no we have the answers . . . . . . This is what you get:

here we have the Box, Its a shame there is no speaker gasket tape or Polly Fill/Acoustic wadding in the box, but that can bee added later.

The Box is MDF and looks well built with glued edges . . . .

it comes with a small remote boost control via the RJ11 lead . . .

one interesting thing to note is that if you use HI-Level inputs then you done need a remote turn on - and it will auto generate a +12v remote output - which is nice =]

If you feed it with LOW-Level RCA`s as an input then you need to supply a Remote turn on feed.

The cable kit is Generic and non descriptive. . . . .

you get some power cable,

You dont get any speaker cable . . . which is odd?

Its all very cheap, but will serve the purpose . . . ill be swapping most of it out.

For now this is where i have to leave you . . . . The weather is terrible outside,

In the mean time ill be looking at how i plan to connect it all up.

one option is just to use the Sub on its own and just connect it up the Vibe 4x chnl amp already fitted (via low pass xcross over) - that may get me 65-130W off that amp.

another option is to fit the sub and new amp under seat and run power from the leisure battery . . . . then all i need is a speaker feed from the dash loom.

Thinking about it, i will most likely run a couple of speaker wires down from the existing Vibe 4channl Amp to feed the Hi-Level input of the Vibe Sub amp, that way i dont need a separate remote-on... Ill also use the "REAR" channels 3/4 so i can set the AMPS gain levels static and just use the Radios Front/Rear fader to adjust the Sub levels . . . . . .

But that for another day . . . . . . . =]
