I've changed the coding as you advise - I've not driven anywhere but lights illuminate as they should.

I've done a scan before and after so you can see; yes, there were and are still faults - 09-Central Electrics, with dipped bulb and the 55-Headlight Range, which I presume is me using the HRCM without the C revision?
Would this incorrect HRCM cause the bulb error warning with the dipped beam?

Door is ajar (I'm sure I read that or the bonnet have to be open) but I haven't done a battery disconect nor lock up and let it rest - let me know if this change requires that.

In 09-Central Electrics, Adaption, Channel 55-Lamp Diagnostics I had a Stored Value-1 and a New Value-1 showing - as per your link, I changed that New Value to 0 and it took it. After keying off and back on again, I turned the headlights on manually at the knob and the bulb error came back. On turning headlights off, clearing DTC's, keying off, keying on and manually turning headlights back on, the buld error lamp returned. A scan showed only one error in 09 this time: 00979 - Lamp for Low Beam; Right (M31).
Looking in Adaptions, Channel 55 was still showing Stored value-0.

Like @ched did here, I then changed 09 Adaptions Channel-55 back to Value 1, but the bulb error remains illuminated on the dash.
After he posted this, you subsequently mentioned a battery disconnect to force the BCM to accept the coding and adaption changes. I will try that next.

Going from 09 byte 29 bit 20 to hex 40 did not extinguish the bulb error light on the dash, nor did changing it to 60 - but hex 60 did bring a new error, along with the other dipped beam fault returning:

On running a new scan, my BCM now shows a fault: 4717 - BCM no comms - so I'll change back to 20.
EDIT: on checking the 09 coding, hex 60 appears to have not taken - or reverted - as it shows as being 40 again. I've changed it to 60 and the BCM error still shows, their being an exclamation mark where the odo reading is on the MFD.

EDIT: Annoyingly, the hex 60 adaption clears the bulb error light on the dash!

EDIT: I'm back to my last good known coding - byte 29 hex 20 - and the BCM fault has gone.
The bulb error light comes back when I switch on the headlights at the knob, still; 00979 - Lamp for Low Beam; Right (M31).

The "60" is valid coding only on with EU6 engines with MFSW - defining which BCM pin is used for Cruise control by MFSW - thus fairly obvious (now) it throws BCM communication fault on EU5 engine.

As i supplied the loom for this (even though i do make the odd mistake) then its unlikely that both inputs and both outputs are wired incorrectly ?!?!?

I would suspect the module is the issue, if it comes from the wrong vehicle then it will have the wrong dataset/parametrization data on it
I did take one from somebody that was having issues with a second hand one and there was very little we could do with it, i could find no parameter file for one online to flash into it and even ODIS refused to deal with it and after a few hours of messing around it was abandoned as unsalvageable, it may be quicker and easier to buy a new module ?

If you’re asking if they are different variants due to one having a letter at the end, I can’t say for certain. But when I was looking it seemed to be that the lights with letters at the end of the part number were on LHD units. Which I presume is ideal for you?

It's a long shot, but maybe when the lights have warmed up the resistance has changed enough so that the lamp check is then okay?

too big a difference in the year of manufacture, can lead to a different shade of glow

I've read the 57 pages of this thread ! And one conclusion : too much work for me to retrofit LED headlight by myself !
Appart this list, do you know other specialist to do the job ? As I'm living in Switzerland, if you know a garage based somewhere in Europe (France, Germany...)

Right now, i've fitted THQ H7 headlight, with regular H7 bulb. I'm thinking of moving to full OEM LED because H7 are not a big upgrade from H4

Looking to fix the HBA issue, have purchased a cheap chinese VCP clone. I could connect to the different modules so it works, but BCM25 programming application is not able to read the values returning the message:

"Seed request rejected, rc :37 Required time didn't pass."

Any clue is welcome, thanks

as far as I know, the Chinese copy of VCP cannot read the BCM PQ25 eeprom
