I had a kenwood fitted at the main dealer lat week but it was 1.5 hours from me. When he put the head unit in it wouldn’t power up and he realised they had sent the incorrect connection block. I’m not travelling back to have it fitted do I told them to send it to me and I will fit it as it’s just plug and play. My question is will the nav display directions on the dash ie, between the clocks as on one of your pictures. My van is a camper but was a highline van. Last of all is they anything else I will miss out on by doing it myself. Thanks

Sounds like they had a T5 harness and not a T6 one

Unless it had a nav unit in there already then it won’t display the directions on the mfd until it’s coded

What dab aerial did they use ? Most dealers stick a glass mount aerial on, and nearly all T6s have the aerial in the mirror, so just requires a adapter

The usb on the dash won’t work, this need a retention kit

Yes it’s the one on the windscreen.
I didn’t have sat nav befor so can they coded it to work if I go back there for them to fit?. Yes I think it is the T5 as there was no live pin to match up to live on the head unit. I was curious about the Ariel as I had dab before so assumed I already had a DAB aerial fitted. Cheers

Vw don’t tend to alter the coding over what the factory sets, so may not do it. But ask them

Audio control LC7i to deal with speaker level in and compensate for the bass roll off on factory headunits

All wired fully active

Dynamat was used through out and ply wooden collars machines to allow the larger then normal Legend speakers

Foam fast rings and connection cable was used through out

We had this California owner drive 5 hours for us to sort his Audio

He had been to 2 very well known companies before, the first installed Alpine speakers and a underseat woofer.

He then went to the other and was talked into upgrading the dash tweeters to Focal and a Audison Bit 10..

We listened to this for the first time with the customer and came to the same conclusion, that it sounded worse than Stock factory speakers.

We then went about stripping it down and it was worse than expected, with messy cabling just tucked under the carpet, sound deadening done to a low quality level which peeled off very easily

He settled on our very popular signature audio setup using Hertz and JL Audio product based around our own design and manufactured underseat sub enclosure

The owner had biggest smile when he left but regrets it took 3 attempts to get it right..

Hertz Mille Legend ML 1650.3 running active in the doors mounted on ply collars, a good amount of Dynamat and foam Fast Rings

Another Signatute Audio installed this week using the basic Composition colour head unit

This setup consists of -
hertz Mille pro front components mounted on wooden collars and a good coverage of Skinz sound deadening to the door skins and door plastics, replacing the pillar tweeters

JL Audio 10w1 10” sub in our own design and manufactured underseat sub enclosure for the twin passenger seat

JL Audio XD500/3. 3cahnnel amp to drive the Hertz and sub

JL XD bass control mounted in a dash blank

And lastly a set of basic 2 way coax speakers mounted in the rear

This setup is very basic and quite economical but leaves owners stunmed with the quality of sound and the bass response

I have a Kenwood DMX7017DAB in my T5. Just put a deposit down on an '18 Highline T6. Is it possible to retain the parking sensors and MFSW functionality if simply swapped out the head unit?

The only way is to use a Connects2 infoadapter, which plays the parking graphics through the reverse camera port

You will also need a dab aerial adapter and a usb retention kit if you want the dash one to still work, oh a fm adapter but the T5 one may be correct if it’s a twin one
