OEM Webasto Auxiliary Heater To Parking Heater Upgrade

Hi, im new here, readed all thread but its litle bit confusing, if i get it right in T6.1 is the upgrade difference between climatronic and climatic only in overhead unit control? Can somebody explain to me how its getting done with T6.1 climatic? Thanks

What are you looking to achieve. Fitting the remote only or remote and screen?

Did you find a copy of the full t6.1 wiring diagram yet?

I would like to fit only the remote,

No i have not finded wiring diagrams yet just looked at these presented in these thread, can you point me somewhere to look for it?

The wiring diagrams are available from VW erwin site or as a VIP member.

heater instal 01.webp heater instal 02.webp
these pages show the connections for the remote module on a post 2019 T6.1 it looks the same just different locations under the left seat when compared to the t6.

The x1 connector pin 2 in your diagram and the t6aw pin 2 connector on the flow chart are the same I think.

If you are lucky that connection is already made and the wire can be found under the left car seat terminating on the red connector t17at pin 1.

To explain

You are trying to instal the remote module r64. It has 5 connections.

The 2 connectors T2tj are the aerial. This should be part of the door wiring loom on a car with the option from factory. I doubt it’s in your door but a universal aerial with farak connector works.
T6af pin 2 is the signal wire which connects onto the heater connector t6aw pin 2 and remotely activates the heater. As said this wire might be there and can be found under the left car seat on red plug.
T6af pin 1 and 6 are the power and earth for the module. Plenty of options for those under the left car seat. There’s an earth point on the chassis under the carpet and you can use a fuse tap for power.

Hope that helps get you started.

Thank you, my t6.1 is 2021,I found some wiring diagrams yesterday on cardiag.com (couldnt save it and after zooming was to bad for screen capture, website was running fine and today couldnt open diagram, trying the same tomorrow)

My screen captures were from the general flow chart for t6.1. I show downloading it in my video, costs 8 euro and then you can use pdf search function to find stuff.

Where can i find the video? Someday next week i will be less busy, so i will take a closer look on wiring and heater it self. Is there a way/website to check if the remote controle (telestart 3Q0963513) unit is for my car? Or is it for every kind of transporter.

Use llcarparts website which has a vw etka (electronic parts catalog) to get the correct part numbers for your car.

On your car You just need to look under your left seat, you probably have the wire there from the heater. Put some decorators tape on your seat base you’ll probably scratch it when you tip the seat back. If you plan to remove it completely take the headrest off and don’t cycle the ignition while the air bag is disconnect.

This is my video

This is also useful

just to warn you the most difficult part of this install is the coding not the physical wiring. I have no experience coding a 6.1 yet unless someone wants to sponsor me a project car. (-:

T6.1 Telestart installation is a lot more complex. You won't get away with following the videos above.
Here's a thread with the overview:

in that thread he says it gets complex to install the control display and the coding has to be done with Odis engineering. for just the remote module it’s not that different.

Someone also chimed in and said that on their 22 car the wire from heater to seat was missing.

Correct me if I summarised that incorrect. My German’s ok but not perfect and German forum boards are full of slang and shorthand that I struggle with. Hence why I hang out here. (-;
Difference between T6 and T6.1 is the additional roof display and it's wiring which becomes not only more complex but also much more expensive because roof units are 150+ EUR. For T6 the roof unit is not mandatory and installation can be carried out by the novice. For T6.1 - not really.

I have a friend who patched the T6.1 firmware to allow Telestart installation without the roof display but he is not sharing the patched firmware because he makes a living on these installations. 150+EUR saving makes a huge difference.

Thanks for clearing that up with some t6.1 knowledge.

The coding I did on the t6 using Odis wasn’t that easy as I warned earlier and I was glad to turn it off and get back to vcds.

As I remember Setting it up without the roof display was one option which I could have coded with Odis so “special patch” might be a myth.

I bought the cable and software from tools4car.co.uk Odis is very specific about the computer and version you use and support is almost non existent. I had to buy and install windows 10 pro on my laptop to get it going and ended up buying Odis twice to get a version which worked with the chip in the cable I had bought on Alibaba. The whole exercise definitely cost more than 150 to do it my self and was not fun.

If someone’s charging that or less I’d let them do it.

Well, I gues you know better than those who do it for living. And 20 pages on TX board discussing exactly this topic on T6.1 is also a myth.
T6 and T6.1 are different cars when it comes to electronics.
Please take no offence. Better to try, achieve and publish results that theoretise about something that you can't test in practice.

I just doubt there’s a special patch that’s needed beyond an installation of Odis e and a full set of the latest firmware.

That’s my opinion and like Donald trump I’m going to provide nothing to support it. (-:

Don't want to start an argument, I'll probably need your help to activate the Air standing heater. Did you ever finish the video on that topic?

Regarding experience, I rewired my last BMW from one electric architecture to to the next gen and I am automotive design engineer by trade so not totally clueless.

When someone says they have a special tool or patch and they're the only one who can make it work. I get really suspicious.

I'd love to test the theory on my neighbors T6.1 but I don't think they would take too kindly to me connecting it up to Odis to see if the option to install without screen is there and you can bet if i do they will hang every future problem at my door.

Glad you liked my trump Joke.

Although expensive this kit is available for t6.1 to take the guess work out of fitting a remote and you can specify plug and play.

warm regards Andrew

Hi Andrew.

Actually, that's not what I meant.

I said Telestart won't work on t6.1 without the overhead display. There are numerous reports on this problem and also multiple professional retrofitters report this as well. There might be a way to make it happen but I've yet to see a replicable method on this.
At least one person has managed to patch firmware to make it work without the overhead display so it is definitely possible to make it work like that and sooner or later another person will also patch and upload a patched version for everyone to use.

Regarding danhag on t6.1 - there are multiple reports of incorrect function on some t6.1s.
