Hi, I hope I’m putting this thread in the right place. If not please let me know.

Ok, I decided a few months back I wanted to build a day van. I was toying with a Transit MSRT but drive a transit every day for my job and to be honest they aren’t the best. I knew the transporter was the go to van and had my heart set on a T6 but it had to be the one I wanted.

Searched and searched and came across the van pictured here. It’s a 2016 SWB Highline 180bhp manual with glazed tailgate. Had to have cruise and a/c so made sense to go for a Highline and the tailgate/180bhp engine was a bonus. Collected the van from Milton Keynes 4/5/18.

Already had a idea of what I want it to look like so before I even drove/looked at/signed for the above van I’d spent close to £5000 on parts.

Had to be Van slam coilovers as I had seen nothing but good reviews and for the price they can’t be matched. These were set to the lowest setting on the rear and 10mm from lowest setting at the front. Going to adjust the rears when I see what the extra weigh does to the setup.

Had seen another Transporter with these wheels and it just looked so good I shamelessly had to copy. These are Axe EX30’s in 20” staggered fitment of 8.5 fronts and 10” rears wearing Kumho tyres.

I’ve also fitted Vanstyle chrome 60mm side bars and the Sportline rear spoiler.

These parts were fitted by 11/5/18.

Next exterior parts to be fitted are the DRL front headlights and genuine front splitter. Itching to get the splitter on but doesn’t make sense when the bumper has to come off to change the lights.

Dropping the van off tomorrow to have the rear windows fitted to the side door and behind driver and have the carpet lining/insulation fitted.

Kitchen unit being collected/fitted 19th of this month then I just need to do all the electrical work (only) and fit my RIB Altair before hopefully getting to use it.

Thanks for looking. I will update as more work is carried out.

Spent most of today removing all the factory ply lining ready for the carpet/insulation to be fitted this week.

I have sound deadened the roof, both sides (minus the window panels being changed) and the tailgate to try and help with the road noise.

I’m hoping with the ply lining, kitchen and bed fitted it helps with the road noise coming from them 10” rears.

Had to drop my van off tonight to get the carpet/flooring installed but couldn’t resist fitting the latest delivery..... Transporter HQ DRL headlights.

Been a long week waiting for these to arrive and didn’t want to wait so soon as I got home I set about fitting them.

Just so happens there was a fitting guide in May’s edition of VWt magazine which made this job a breeze. Sorry for the lack of finished pictures. I was going to fit the front splitter until I opened the box and found the painter has forgot to pack some parts.

Getting the van back maybe Thursday night so will get pictures then. I am VERY impressed with them though. Quality is right up there with the standard lights and they’re very bright.

Highly recommend.

Nice rims what size tyres did you go for front & rear please .

Update!

Collected the van from East Coast Custom Campers tonight after having the following fitted:-

Windows in rear
Carpet lining
12mm floor and lining
Lights in headlining
Insulation

So happy with the results. Can’t recommend Gary enough. Very fair price and the quality of the work is very very good.

I requested the floor was bonded as I didn’t want screws through the van floor. Don’t want it to rust etc.

All work was completed in 2 days.

Another update completed tonight!

Fitted the genuine splitter after the final parts were painted. (Painter forgot to paint the tow eye cap and lower black section.)

Been waiting to get this on since I put the deposit on the van about a month ago and so happy with it.

Also attached pictures of the headlights with the front end on this time.

Did you get 12mm side panels too?

Update....

The kitchen unit was fitted last Saturday and the RIB Altair swiftly after. Very happy with both items. The kitchen is very high quality (for what I paid) and the RIB is the RIB. Love that it matches the front trim so not in such a hurry to get it all retrimmed now.

Had the wheels off mid week and cleaned up the calipers before painting black. Got to be better than light tinge of rust!

Also fitted transporter HQ curtains to it before taking it to Ullswater for the weekend. I know a lot of people prefer the shades but I can’t fault them for £25 a window.

Ordered my CRX 50 and Smev 9222 due in next week so once they’re in I will be somewhere near.

Had to raise the rear suspension as I found it is bottoming out and catching somewhere on the rear left on country roads.

Some more pictures of the progress and some from the weekend.

Cheers
