Man Vs Van..

Never had anything done there myself so I can’t comment on their workmanship.
Been there for a good few years now and has quite a large stock of conversions was there last weekend to see if I could source some vents I was after.
Seen a few of their vans dotted about no harm in calling down and having chat I was there for a good 40 minutes chatting about campers :)

Thanks. If you let me know next time you are around thee let me know. I will put the kettle on.

I've thought that, but I'm a bit nervous about it, and dont fancy being outside in this weather, especially if it turned mid job.

Went to a place in Huddersfield this morning and was given a decent price for twin sliding windows.

I know what you mean.. I have a pop up tent which would go over it.. Alternatively I might try and get it in the garage.. Just my track car would have to live on the drive while i'm doing it.

Transformation!

The van has been back to Bognor Motors to be transformed!

Really really really pleased with the results...

Now running on 20's, 70mm lower and now with 300BHP..

Auxiliary Heater

Today the auxiliary heater was fitter.

I used a chap called Ian Smith from Sub Zero.

R12 to RS24 Specialist Mobile Automotive Air Conditioning Engineering for Kent and M25 Area | Sub Zero for all your Mobile Automotive Air Conditioning Engineering needs.

Have a petrol engine I had two options, either fit a diesel heater and fit a small diesel tank somewhere or Webasto now has a petrol heater.

Sorry didn't get many pictures.. Ian came to my workplace and I was in meetings all day.

At the moment the heater is fully fitted under the vehicle however inside the van I asked Ian not to finish things off.. So the controller is just loose and I have a loose heater pipe just coming in where I think the outlet might be.

It works really well! Comes out very very hot and heats up the van very quickly!

New head unit..

Due to my VW factory fitted head unit not supporting my reversing camera I had to get a new hear units.

Finalized on a Kenwood navigation system..

I ordered the unit from ABSOLUT5.. They offered a great service, turned up next day. .
absolute new | VW T5/T6 Specialists

They also included the adapter to connect up to the T6.. This includes the USB port adapter, rear view camera adapter, DAB adapter.

Bye Bye old head unit!

Running battery cables..

with the dash half out I decided to have a go at running the battery cables.

I orderd the kit from Travelvolts. He does a great job! Instructions can be found on his website.

Removed the glove box and lower under dash cover.

IMG_9818.webp

IMG_9819.webp

Once the lower cover is removed the floor can be pulled back to access the grommets in the bulk head to access the battery compartment.

IMG_9820.webp

I am fitting a split charging cable and a electric hook up cable as I want to have the socket under the bonnet.

IMG_9821.webp

Travelvolts cables are excellent quality.

Seats coming out again..

IMG_9837.webp

With the seats out you can gain access to the the channels under the floor.

IMG_9839.webp

IMG_9840.webp

IMG_9841.webp

Need to get the cables here so you can run them down the center channel.

IMG_9842.webp

While I was here I couldn't resist. I plan to do the entire floor but I'm a little tight on time and the weather is terrible today.

IMG_9843.webp

This cable goes between the fuses and CTEK 250SA to switchen it on when the ignition comes on.

IMG_9844.webp

All back down with the battery cables in place.

IMG_9845.webp

To connect up later.

IMG_9846.webp

Cables routed back to under the drivers seat.

Installing battery under drivers seat.

With the cables under the driver's seat, it was time to mount the battery.

IMG_9848.webp

After a bit of playing around on how to mount and a bit of google searching, I stumbled on the below site which showed the battery on its side.

Installing A Leisure Battery Setup | VAN BUILD | MTB Van Life

It holds really well on the side and Travelvolts kit clamps down on the battery well.

IMG_9849.webp

Made up a cardboard template for a wooden plate to mount my CTEK and a few other bits.

IMG_9850%2B%25281%2529.webp

Fits well.

IMG_9851.webp

Bit of a dilemma on how much to try and get under the seat.

Quick post on the T6forum and I've decided to mount the CTEK 250SA and 12v fuse box in here.. I'll mount the rest in the furniture.

IMG_9852.webp

The van looks a bit of a mess!
IMG_9853.webp

IMG_9854.webp

I plan to carpet this wooden panel later on but want to make sure it fits before I fuss.

Ace mate. Didn’t realise you’d gone for the 2.0tfsi great shout! I couldn’t afford the fuel for that! After owning an s3 with the same engine, I know how much that guzzled!! So couldn’t imagine the van!

Giving me plenty of guidance for when I do my electrics.

More electrics..

Carried on with the electrics this morning.
