AdBlue Discussion and Issues

That is very handy! I have avoided them because I assumed that they would pump like a fire hose overfill so fast then get covered in horse piss. I would use truck fuel stations but 1, I worry that the restricted small filler on these would not accept the large bore fuel guns that lorries, use and 2, also end up covered in diesel because I imagine our vehicles would not like the huge floe rate.

It would be handy to be able to use truck stops, has anyone tried filling diesel at truck stops am I correct in my assumptions?:oops::giggle:
Well I’ve used the truck ones in the uk no problem-flow is similar to the front of forecourt ones.
In France I tried the truck stop one and as soon as I squeezed the trigger it clicked off, so thinking it was the wrong angle or whatever I gave it another go, same again immediately clicked off.
Looked at display and it was still something silly like 400 litres from the previous truck.
So assuming it had a fault I got in to drive off and the Ad Blue was full. So it must have put about 6 litres in in about a second.
Went to try to pay and the lady was adamant that I’d had no ad blue and told me off for filling up at a ruck stop.
Oh well, not often you get gifted free ad blue lol.

Good and bad at the same time no pay for more but with some problems! Have you used a commercial lorry stop for Diesel here in UK like Motorways for instance? Not sure pump would fit our tiny fillers and if they do they explode with the shock 🤣??? I have seen older Transits filling Diesel on Motorway Truck fuelling stations but the may have wider filler necks. it would be great if we could because so much faster and less mucking about though some truckers may not like it!:oops::rofl:

You can do it , bit of a knackered & really easy to spill. I use the truck points often when towing twin axle caravans

Is their a knack, do you only partially pull the trigger does the gun fit in? I have noticed that truck pumps have a lock to keep trigger pressed while the driver does a walk around. I could imagine that 80L would take less than a minute!

The Adblue nozzle is smaller than the diesel nozzle, and at the truckstops the nozzle likely has a magnetic shut off so that it cannot be accidentally put into the diesal tank. In terms of the speed of dispensing, I just squeezed the trigger enough to get a relatively slow fill rate so that I could watch the meter and not overfill the tank (stopped just before it got to the maximum amount suggested to add on the instrument cluster)

6.1s use a lot less of the wee wee juice than the 6. A recent fill up of mine give me an indicated 18,800 estimated range.

18.000miles? About 28.000km, and that’s on the 6… so mine is probably normal that it still hasn’t advised me to fill up then. Mine is around 25.000km now without saying anything, like I said I do most motorway driving here in Spain.

Adblue usage is between 600-1000 miles per litre depending on a number of factors. I hear that some owners get their Adblue deleted, along with the EGR and DPF (all illegal) and from the computer so no Adblue is used. Has your Adblue been deleted.

Nah it’s not deleted as far as I know. It was brought from the VW second hand, but with very low KM. Do we know how much the Ad blue tank is roughly on a 2022 T6.1?

I always used to fill at the Shell where the M1 exits onto the A616 where the HGVs fill with no issues. But last time I went it had gone from 78pence to £2 per litre so off I went to GKF for a 10 L drum for £11.

For diesel pump , there's a knack. Nozzle doesn't fit in but hold it tight against the filler & works OK

Adblue countdown has started on the van and we are in Europe. Sh!t myself every time I fill up and the added jeopardy of doing it miles from home is not helping the holiday vibe!!!

@cgtmiles. I've started another thread in the hope of getting all the adblue facts put into a single thread - it would be useful if you could put some detail into it please Things such as how many times it's happened, when the alert came up (ie. rough miles after a refill) and what happened with the countdown and whether it went back to normal. Cheers.

I prefer Europe, it’s cheaper and it’s at many more pumps. Repsol stations normally have it if I remember correctly.

1200 I think
I remember in a Vauxhall Movano with my big boss, AdBlue down to 38 miles range before we left Sutton Coldfield on a trip to Glasgow. Overfilled tank. We decided to stop at Tebay services 185 miles up north. We waited 7 hours at one of the nicest services for recovery! Van didn't start after stopping it!
How far from Blighty are you?

That said, am I right in now thinking that you haven’t got an issue with the adblue system other than a nervousness about about topping it up because you’re a long way from home and don’t want it to go wrong if you do top up?
PDS. And apologies for the too long sentence!

Spot on, yes. I’m being a big girls blouse about it (or in acceptable modern parlance: a proportionally challenged strong independent young persons blouse)
