Possibly - however the flash re-programming option is there and is enabled when you start the program. It’s just that I can’t work out how to do it...
I believe Robert thinks that both ODIS-E and S should work.
Would some faults (it found 2) get in the way somehow and need clearing first?

After seeing your post here
I was convinced you are using ODIS-E but after double checking you are actually trying to do it with ODIS-S.

ODIS-E is the best software for flashing.
Have you got it? If not, try googling and you will find it;).

Thanks @Robert,
the dongle I ordered (VAS 6154) just said 'ODIS' so I wasn't sure about the version. It turned out to be ODIS-S.

Can I be sure that ODIS-E will work with my dongle? I had real trouble getting ODIS-S up and running reliably, but it works now.

Do you think it is worth giving ODIS-E a try or are there any showstoppers I need to be aware of?

Dongles like VAS 6154a (USB,Wifi) and VAS 5054a (USB, Bluetooth) by default work with ODIS-S and ODIS-E .

Oh great. Mine just states 6154 - no a at the end. Would that be the same?

I’m trying to get hold of ODIS-E but no luck so far.

Update: I've managed to sort it... finally. I almost gave up.

Didn't get very far with drive2 but managed to find a copy of ODIS-E 9.0.6 somewhere else cheaply. After some hacking about it worked and recognised my VAS6154. I've just now flashed my heater successfully.

Next up is hardware. Thanks again @Robert and everyone else for their tips.

I need some more help :)
I've now wired it up and I can confirm I have 12V between pins 1 and 6 on the receiver. I've spliced pin 2 into the green/white wire (red plug under seat).

When I press 'on' I get a green light for a second or two but nothing happens on the van. If I try any other functions on the keyfob I get no optical feedback. In short it appears that it is not communicating.

Could this be related to the coding? I noticed that @wolny had similar issues. My current coding is 41 01.
How can I troubleshoot this and recode if necessary? I have ODIS-S and E.

Thanks.

This is my kit. Aerial is also connected.

Did you activate remote control in your heater?
More details below.

Hi @Robert,
no I didn't activate it - I didn't; know I needed to. All I did was flash the firmware and wired up the components.

I saw your previous post - so I should be changing the coding to 5101?
Can I use ODIS for that?

Cheers

Stefan

Yes you can use ODIS but VCDS is much more user friendly ;).

For coding modifications both are effectively almost the same.

This might be of some assistance for you to adjust your coding.

differences between 5001 and 5101?
Remote control installed (51xx) or not (50xx). Have a look at
a 'cheap' cable
Stay away of those please.

You could use OBDeleven for all the codings and adaptations (+run tests on the control units) on T6.

Thank you.

Given that I have spent days to set up ODIS S and E is it possible that I make the coding change in one of those tools or does anything speak against that?

As I said already, you can use ODIS for coding modifications. No problem.
