Webasto is not working anymore

Hi!

A friend has a problem with the webasto in his car since 2 weeks.

When we use the remote, it's flashing green many times during +/- 2 seconds.
When we use the button in the car, goes, then after few seconds it goes off.

Count the flashes for the error code, 4 or 5 rapid flashes are then followed by a series of longer flashes the number of which is the error code.

It's almost impossible to count the number of flashes.
We had to use the slowmotion feature on the phone to film.

Maybe 20 flashes on 2 seconds, same duration for each.

The remote is an oval one shape.

Green flashing is when it is in ventilation mode - it should be red for heating. Rapid flashing like that usually means that there is no communication with the Telestart receiver.
Reset it to heating mode and try again.

- it was always green before when using the heater with the remote (many times per day here), the green light stayed 2 second ON.
- the webasto doesn't start from the button in the car like i mentioned.

I would check the Telestart receiver's fuse and power as if the Telestart isn't functioning there is a possibility that the button checks for the starting mode from the Telestart when it is pressed. Should be a 1A or 5A fuse for the Telestart. I wouldn't have a clue as to where the power is taken from in a car though.

Looks like it's actually TWO pumps are reported as failing. However, most likely it's the "Recirculation pump" failure which is the culprit here that has locked the heater (see fault priority and date stamps). The quick flashing green on remote indicates "locked heater".

If you want to experiment which pump exactly is the cause, you could run the heater once more till it fails - and then read the fault codes again.

How-to:​

Unlock the heater:​

VCDS ► Select Control Module ► 18-Aux.Heater ► Basic Settings ► IDE06654-Disengage/Unlock heater
VCDS ► Select Control Module ► 18-Aux.Heater ► Fault Codes ► Clear Codes

Now the heater should start - and run at least for a few minutes until the fault resurfaces.
Please post fault log.

PS. Full VCDS Auto-Scan is always useful - to identify what car it is...

Odd? - no - it's just VAG proprietary logic (green=start, red=stop) and using proprietary software everywhere (even in the remote)
This is a coolant heater.
