Another job off the list, finished fitting my 2000w inverter!

500w heat gun pulling 40 amps or so. The inverter pulls 1a on standby.

Also added a USB GPS to the Cerbo GX and ran an extra ethernet cable to where my touch 50 and 5g router will eventually live.

That's (hopefully!) the very last time I'll need to remove the passenger seat! It's been a very sweaty day!!
How did you route your cables behind the inverter? I don't seem to have enough space between the rear corner of the battery and the side of the base to safely get the cables through.

With great difficulty!!

This pic maybe shows it the best

The terminals on the inverter are right angle ones, the cables then loop from there along the outside back under the inverter mounting bracket, which has various holes in it - they then loop back again and enter the seat base at the bottom left, positive going to my fused busbar and negative to the busbar. With the mount and the factory connectors between the inverter and battery, that's enough room for the 50mm² cable to sit there.

I did have to modify the seat base slightly, cutting a small section out on the bottom of the 'arch' at the back to allow the cables to run through. All protected with some edging strip.

Yeah I'm not sure what to do yet in terms of mud management! I might just put down some rubber matting under the bike which can then be swept out.

I'll only be putting the bikes in with the wheels on when riding 'local' trails, for ease of transport. Otherwise they'll go in with a wheel off securely mounted on the fork mounts.

I'm off to the Alps tomorrow for 10 days so I'll get properly started after I get back, I'll get it booked in for the adaptive cruise control retrofit, and also get the bench seat and multiflex board up for sale.

I can't really start playing with the layout until the bench seat etc is out.

Also wound out the awning today, I'll be using this a lot I think!

Hey mate, what type of awning is this one? Looks just like what I'm after.

Bit of a different camping set up in the van yesterday, normally it's just me but this time it was me and a new lady friend, and her 10 year old daughter.

Daughter slept in the van and we were in the 3 man tent next door.

More stuff than usual even though it was only 1 night. Tbh it was work setting up and packing away but otherwise all fairly easy!

Used the induction hob to make coffee and cook some bacon for breakfast and (along with fridge, lights, charging stuff etc) got down to 78% but was back up to 93% by the next afternoon before we left.

Nice! She's also got 2 adult kids (19 and 20 I think) which I've met briefly, all from the same previous marriage. They don't live with her.

My plans for the van haven't really changed tbh, it was always to keep and enjoy it for a few years then possibly look at buying and building a crafter sized van once I've bought my own house (van proceeds helping towards the deposit) and have more space for an extra car.

We'll get away in the van all 3 of us, I'll look at buying a driveway awning for when it's the 3 of us on a campsite.

Hi Paul,, reading through this post, how did you attach your tailgate curtain rails ? Did you just self tap ? I'm concerned the plastic isnt deep enough and dont want to go through into the metal behind unless I have to !

Thanks !

Pop rivets, the van X kit comes with pop rivets as self tapping screws doesn't work on the plastic trim
