MFSW - Golf GTd MkVII + DSG Paddles -- How I Done It --

Hi guys, I have a MK7 GTD wheel with paddles and would really like this to work, I have messed around a bit with it but ultimately need to fit the standard wheel back on, is my only option to send the wheel to the company you mention to have it corrected for my T6 ?
cheers

OK, contacted them and got s price of £150 if I send both wheels or at least both sets of buttons ?
With all that is happening I have been a bit busy but contacted again yesterday to now be told it will be £200 possibly even £300 to make it work ??!!

I think I mentioned previously, but the guy that does the chip swap from wheel to wheel is the owner of the business, messing with steering wheels is only a tiny side line and quite labour intensive.

I suspect he doesn’t really want to do the work anymore as the yield rate is so low, it’s really easy to make the slightest slip and end up writing off the button panel.

I saw him wreck two panels while he was doing mine, he’s definitely losing money on most of these wheel swaps.

What he should do is farm out the knowledge to a specialist who can lift these components off and on with the correct equipment, not doing it by hand with a heat gun and a set of tweezers.

Yeh, unfortunately its not a cheap mod . . . i paid £199

for them to do it, with me sending my wheel in, and arranging/paying for the return courier too.

but that was just one wheel and no donor set of buttons

but at that point it was so much £££ into it that it was "do or bust"

If it helps, I’ve taken some photos of the steering cowl, so the tabs can be seen:

lower:

and a close-up of a tab that you’ll see being bent, but later realise isn’t all that important:

There are also two at the face of the lower cowling (that are upside-down U shape).

I found you needed to grip both sides of the upper-cowling and push up to remove.

My GTi wheel had white led's but he screwed that set up, then he found a button set with red led's in the end so it worked out slightly better than I had hoped.
Thanks @carlg I don't have any buttons just now to swap over. However red on the wheel buttons with white on the paddles, I'm guessing may look alright as a feature.
I thought golf buttons were always white ??

My flat-bottom Passat wheel came with white LEDs. As the dash LEDs are white, I think it doesn’t look out of place. I don’t feel like I need to have the wheel LEDs changed to suit, so for anyone considering it, I’d advise them to consider saving their money (unless your buttons are a straight swap) (sorry, had only remembered to post this recently).

@Lord Mfwic can you recall what wheel you got as my T6 doesn’t ACC either hence I would like to carry out the swap like yourself?

Cheers for your help.
I got mine from T5 upgrades on Facebook. I thought he was also a trade member on here.

Power is usually taken from the switched live behind the light switch

Thanks

from what I've found out is Steering wheel connector I run cables from pin 9 & pin 10
These then connect to the light switch 12 volt and the BCM pin 17 or pin 36

then I just need to find someone to code it
