What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Busy day today:-

1, Had large scratch removed by Chips Away.
2, Installed new drivers side front door rubber.
3, Installed the windscreen/ dashboard rubber seal
4. Carista coding. Now have big digital speed display, sweeping needles, locks when pulling away, beeps when locked.
Off to Halfords for a set of Spline bits so I can tighten tailgate.

Time for a sit down.

After replying to a fellow forum members question today, I thought I would install the same, as I bought a new end cap, kept safe in my "spares box", since 2023!
Item 21:

I bought the end cap, as mine was suffering from paint peel, which apparently affects most F45S' (@Ed Webb - you replaced yours yet?):

I tried to remove the 3 screws (2 visible & 1 hidden under the windy out bit).
Both outer screws wouldn't budge and I ended up rounding off the heads on them both
Time to get the big drill out...

Drilled both heads off, leaving the body of the No.8 Pozi Pan screws in the cassette.
Prayed a little...
Prayed a little bit more...
Supported the inner cassette by hand (a 16yr old son is very helpful at this point!) and removed the end cap.
Told the 16yr to stay there and not move, whilst dad did his thing.
Using mole grips & the strength of Garth (Garth (comic strip) - Wikipedia)
The little devils eventually came out :D
Ran some new screws down the threaded holes with copper slip grease.
All good.

Fitted the new cap, reusing the existing white support thing, that you can just see in the top of this photo:

Fitted new screws with plenty of copper slip, so they don't bind/weld together again in the future.

Looking lots better, good for another 5 years or so.

Checked the rear cap & all screws came out ok, but just to be on the safe side, coated them with loads of copper slip gunk

Old vrs new part:

Best advice is that if you have a Fiamma awning recently fitted, get those screws out, copper slip them, before they stick in & you have to drill them out.

@AJCConversions - Brandon - I've saved you from this little nasty job from the Xmas to do list!!
After 2 years of re-painting my front end fiamma F45s cap I have ordered a new cap from Fiamma, £47 including postage! (Didn't realise Fiamma is based in Stourbridge).
I thought I would just try a test removal of the 3 screws holding the cap, they are indeed seized solid. I tried the 'rubber band approach', nope.
Ordered a screw removal set which should be delivered today, and also a tube of Copaslip.
@moomin-j , do you remember the length of those No. 8 Pozipan screws you used? I might as well get those at the ready too.
Thanks mate, there's another £60 you owe me I reckon!!

Im really interested to know, since you had these wheels and tyres fitted, how they have performed.... (Im looking at a similar set up myself)?
I have had excellent performance. Tyres have done 11k so far and no noticeable wear. They are quiet and provide a smoother ride. I wont look back at all.

You should get some penetrating oil on the screws @Drive Wayne while you’re waiting for the delivery. You can get behind the awning to get at the long upper screw which is really exposed to the elements. If you have any, aluminium anti-seize paste is better than coppaslip for aluminium fittings.

Many thanks @Anakin , I gave the screws a good WD40ing and an hour before I attempted the seemingly impossible.
Now looking for the 'proper' alu stuff for the job... my bank balance hates this forum at times!

A bit of work on headliner attached some buttons as per my wife instructions 😂
And when fitted back broke one plastic where you attach sunshade fffs half turn to much let’s hope not expensive
