What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Do you know which bit was rattling?
Well as it turns out not just the bit that was replaced...

In my case it was the matt surround of the digital dash, if you.pressed down on the bottom bit on the right side you could feel the clip had broken and it clanked against other trim.

It's better but there's still some wiring loom or similar that's not back in the as built place and rattling

Ah ok. Well for me it’s the button that zeros the trip meter. I’ve been trying to get it replaced for about 3 years. Now I have just wedged it with a piece of a business card. VW customer service is a crock of sh1t.

Fitted the Fiamma F43Van awning.
Also fitted the JustKampers Chairpod, a budget version of the Vanshades product. It's fabric so the tailgate just about closes with it in situ given that the rib bed is very close to the back.
How do you like the chairpod? I’m in the middle of DIYing a chairpod style arrangement. Struggling to find chairs that are suitable. Don’t suppose you could send me measurements for the chairs when folded up? Also the height of the seat when unfolded. Best I can find is 40cm off the floor which feels a bit like a child’s chair.

It's ok. Quality isn't incredible however if it was any more robust (like the vanshades offering) it probably wouldn't fit for me. I have a RIB bed and it *just* fits though I have to give the boot a good slam to get the lock to properly engage.
I actually went through several different chairs trying to find some both small and light enough considering I have a bike rack aswell.

I eventually settled on these but must be the older model since mine has black arms.
Measurements folded in cm are h x 63, w x 51, d x ~6.5. Height of the seat off the floor at the lowest point (the back) is 38cm.

Hope that helps!

Really helpful thank you, they look decent chairs too

As we're off on a 5/6 week european road trip the week after next, I thought I'd take the opportunity of a cloudy day to give it a quick scrub up. It's the second time this year so I'll have to be careful not to make it too much of a habitl This time I used Autoglym Polar Blast snow foam followed by GTechniq Ceramic GWash and a top coat of Turtlewax Ceramic Spray Coating. I also spotted a few stone chips that need attention which I will sort out this weekend.

As an aside, I'm also an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society and if they saw a finger inadvertently appearing in the top LH corner of the frame in a published photo, they would probably take away my distinction and throw me out of the society. It looked even worse before I cropped it!

Finally got around to fitting 4 new 235/55/18 Falken Wildpeak AW3A tyres to my 2016 T6 Caravelle. Tyre fitter put 44 psi into each tyre (as per door label) but I guess that related to the original wheels which I believe were 16". I have 18" now and 44psi felt like a really hard ride. Immediately changed to 40 front and 38 rear. Rides nicely and such a difference from 44 all round. Sorry for the dusty wheel and the alloy scuff that I did when I kerbed it and blew the original tyre!!

Put the manufacturers original tyre details into a tyre comparison site the add the details of the new set up. The site will give the new tyre pressures. Do this for load and no load and write or print a sticky label because people forget and it is handy for garages. It is important to have the correct pressures.

Had my replacement Devonport wheel (bought from @T6 dork) and my wheel spacers (bought from @thedukeofKDY) fitted today - 20mm front/ 25mm rear.

Notwithstanding the stock 17s and T32 suspension, I think the stance looks noticeably sweeter. Mrs Bav, on the other hand, is singularly unimpressed and asked why I'd bothered.🤦‍♂️

Will get a pic tomorrow. #PinkyPromise

I have have the THQ LED rear lights and I just cut into those. They have 3 wires and need running, brake and ground.
Do you know if this would be the same for factory rear LED lights?

Just a stick on reflector would do for a hour while it's tested .
A lot of the time there's some built into the rear lights but with yours being black that's not an option .
Do you know if the MOT requires the reflectors to demarcate the rear corners of the van or can they be placed anywhere along the rear?

Subtle, but needed... IMO.

After getting this yesterday following the front end off last week. Nothing, I’ve hurried my head in the sand. Last weeks was for the external temp sensor which was corroded and the wiring had been bodged previously.
