What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

I have had some problems with maintaining tyre pressure a year or two ago, though t I may have had a slow puncture or something. I changed my tyre valves and it stopped. Many tyre valves today look chrome plated and not the usual brass. Well I could only fin chrome plated ones at Halford but they where new well at least packaged it mad the difference.

their is a sham going round also some putting a single grain of rice inside under the valve cap. Evidentially it is enough to release air very slowly but difficult to find without removing the valve.

I fitted an auto light switch for a T7 multi van today bought from Aliexpress and it works well with no error codes my van is a 2021 T6.1,
this was posted by @JustGllenn a week or so ago and I was sceptical about it but it does work well.

That's quick delivery !
Got to say, all my purchases from aliexpress have been spot on

Well, I've gotta get one of those then, thanks John! Just pull the old one out and pop the new one in? Should work with retrofitted fogs do you reckon?

Just check the rear of your original light switch to see that it matches the one advertised as there are two types originally.

I was thinking that would have been a very accurate nail placement in the wear indicator!
Guess how I had to have the other rear tyre repaired?!?

Small screw picked up in the boatyard - something about the way the profile flexes seems to be adept at grabbing debris - never had the issue with the earlier version of the Cross Climate tread pattern on the XC70

Fitted the stop-start eliminator. Took seconds, works perfectly.

I got mine form a Chinese Ebay seller for £11, took 8 days to arrive. A UK seller is selling an identical item for £30 (doubtless bought in bulk from the same source and sold at a chunky mark up) and wouldn't have arrived much quicker if at all.

FINALLY my 235/55/18 104 Michelin cross climate tyres arrived so they got mated to the Rial X10X Racing Black 18x8.5 (5x120) ET50 65.1 alloys that have been living in the back in their boxes! Finished them off with new centre caps off eBay along with 19mm vw bolt covers (copies off eBay…needed slight modification by scraping ridges off the inside with a sharp 6mm chisel…). I love that the Rials are load rated and a direct fit for the T32- no spigots rings necessary. Ok, 20s and lowering would look good but for the muddy grassy tracks I’m often up this is the best compromise between looks and function. Tyres ride a lot smoother than the previous 215/65/17s that were on the Davenport 17s before so that was a nice surprise! I put on a travelinlite splitter a few weeks ago… not sure about it but didn’t want to go full sportline so I can always unbolt it if I grow tired of it but it’s kinda grown on us…
Anyone considering the Rial wheels, i would describe them as a satin black. I would have preferred gloss black but still very happy :)

Don't suppose you have still got a link to the eBay centre caps?

MOT was coming, so I decided to sort my seatbelt. It was loose, so I soaked it in hot water with dish detergent for 10 minutes. This sorted the issue, and the belt acted like new. I booked my MOT for Monday, but unfortunately, my MOT guy couldn’t do it because I’m class 7. I ended up at a new place, and I hope they’ll be okay.

Then yesterday, I realised I hadn’t sorted my driver’s seat yet, even though I did it for my wife three months ago. So, I ended up doing it on fast track before Monday.
Need still sort forward /back as it’s wrong way around but can live with it until will do seat rip adapter.

I couldn't find a "Things I have learned, and/or forgotten that I already knew, about my van" thread, so I'll post this lessons learned in here for maximum awareness to the masses. Mods, feel free to move this to the Don't ask me how I know this area if one exists.

If you have a THQ/Alpicool fridge, the LED lights on the temperature display can be quite bright at night. These can be turned off with a long press on the power button. You will now have a dim green light and no temperature display overnight to disturb your her repose.

If you do a short press on the power button, you will again turn off the temperature display. The difference is that there is no small green light this time. This is because you have now turned off the fridge completely and are an idiot but after a day of enjoying the atmosphere at a festival you don't notice or care.

In the morning, the first combat indicator of your dim-wittery will be that your Renogy battery monitor shows that you are still at 100% despite the fridge "working" all night because your milk is still cold. See below...

1000008114.webp

Linked to the first lesson is that your Renogy battery monitor glows and pulses bright green whenever anything is happening to your battery (charging/discharging).

Again this can be turned off upon receipt of SWMBO's orders for undisturbed sleep with the judicious application of a single digit to the top right button. It will beep after a few seconds to let you know you have achieved your aim.

Note. A long press on the next button down will also emit a beep; however, this indicates you have just told the battery monitor that the LB is full to 100%. You will now spend the next day thinking that your solar setup is amazing because your fridge has been running like a champ all morning and you are still at 100%

So the moral of the story is simple. Pay attention to where your finger is and press the required button for the required amount time to achieve the desired effect. Don't turn your fridge off and reset your battery when it is at 75%.

You must have been taking it easy if you found your way back to the van:whistle:

Sound advice when aiming to satisfy the SWMBO's desires! :p

I could never understand why a nameless professional outfit would mount power management in the wardrobe when the said equipment had a 'gets hot' warning. Offending Sargent Ec155 was removed.

Electronics have now found their final resting home after much experimention:

304Amph ecodrift mounted in dead space under the wardrobe with adequate ventilation together with its AC charger.

Two switchable MPPTs mounted umder the grill cupboard and

The MPPT switchover, AC Consumer unit and B2B in dead space in the Rib bed
