I think when you flash the software in the heater it reverts back to webasto software.
So thats why the vw telestart might not work

I do not understand? changed software. Remote control webasto T91 Starts the heater and Climatronic, and when starting with webasto T91 lin 3Q0 963 513 the heater does not start(. Maybe you need something to encode VCDS?

If I understood correctly:


1) You have a “round” remote T91 which starts the heater ok ?

2) But you have replaced old receiver module with the new one (in your picture and below) - true??


3) You are trying start the heater with new “square” remote but this does not work?



I would guess that after installing your receiver module you need to pair your “square” remote with the controller box (I do not know if they come paired).

The VCDS should be able to do the pairing as described at Ross-Tech site Cannot learn aux heater remotes...?... which states that: “The proper procedure can be found in basic settings under IDE06650 "Adapting RF transmitter".

What is a concern is your mention about "changed software" ?

Hmmm... not sure. Is the heater software still the original VW software, or was it changed to Webasto software when the universal kit was installed as mentioned in post Webasto Auxiliary Heater - customizing Do you see the Webasto in VCDS Scan? Do you see remote controller/receiver?

As far as I understand your new receiver module 3Q0.963.513 is the right one for a T6.

I don’t know if that’s an activation issue as the softwares aren't probably compatible any more. Not sure even if VW could reprogram the heater back to original software.

I am satisfied with how to start the heater from the universal webasto telestart T91. I only want to connect OEM remote control T91 lin instead of telestart. Has anyone here done this?

Now I'm confused, the software looks like OEM VW. If so, I think the coding "4000" tells heater that there is no remote control? Should you change it "5000" - byte 0, bits 4-5?

I think you should try only "5000" because that would change only bits 4-5 which should only enable remote control and doesn't change anything else. This is the only coding related to remote module.

Edit: I just looked at this a 3rd time as yes it supplies a 12v feed to a wire on the heater control unit.

@Loz, do you know if this single 12v input to the heater control (pin 1 on the red plug under the left seat?) starts both the coolant heater and the cabin fan? Am I correctly assuming that the heater control unit will need to be flashed before it will accept this input?

I dont haver a cali but I do have the coolant auxiliary heater ,I think the wire you are talking about only controls the
Auxiliary heater .
On my instructions it said this wire was not there on later models ,if this is the case then you have to wire direct to the heater

You don't need special kit to upgrade Engine Heater to Parking Heater.
In my Transporter T6 / Multivan Diesel with Engine Heater 7E0 963 273 A, I update software using ODIS with firmware FL_7E0963272B_0009 ( dedicated for Parking Heater 7E0 963 272 B) and in this way Engine Heater has been unlocked and now working as a fully Webasto Parking Heater.
I added Telestart T91 LIN module (5Q0 963 513 A) and changed coding from 4101 to 5001 - and now remote control working.
