T6 Bulbs & Lamps

If folk are interested Europe have legalised some LED Bub Fitments for some vehicles i wrote a post on this some little time ago but they are not legal in the UK. they are built to much higher specification to eliminate glare.

Here from Phillips

Has anyone found a supplier of decent W16W silver/chrome amber bulbs please? Only ones I've been able to find look very cheap and nasty .

Like this but silver/chrome .

Great post, thank you.
I've just put Nighteye LED replacement H4 bulbs in - loads better!

Now my sidelight and fogs look really yellow :D does anyone have suggestions for LED versions? Looks like 501 capless and H11?

Also side note: if anyone is local to Abergavenny with VCDs would like to code my bulb warning out, i'll buy them a beer 🍻

Been talking about it for ages now. Progress, if any, is very slow.

And the linked article says things like…

The housing for halogen bulbs is not compatible with LED bulbs, and a retrofitted car will not pass its annual MOT check-up.

As part of the government's new approach the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency has "stepped up surveillance" to stop the sale of illegal retrofit headlamp bulbs, the DfT said. “

Yet we know that’s not true. Most testers will just pass retrofit LED ‘bulbs’ from what I hear either on forums or just chatting to folk. Some have even offered advise as to how to make a failing car pass by disabling levellers or washers. And shops still sell these illegal LED ‘bulbs’, so not sure what stepped up surveillance has achieved.

I want to put together some fact sheets for members reference and the first one is listing all lamp types on T6 vehicles
I have all the lamp types from my kombi with standard lighting but would like to hear from Cali/caravelle/posh LED people

*post updated*

This list has now been compiled and is located in the resources section which can be found here
Volkswagen Transporter T6 Bulb/Lamp Types
This is a great reference document, appreciate you putting it together.
I have a question, I am running a T6 Shuttle 2016 rear wing doors. I have found the type of rear fog light bulb I need, I think I only have one on the drivers side in the rear cluster - is this right or do I have one on both sides? If I do they both have packed up! Thanks

Do you have E3 LED or halogen tailights?
The E3 have dual reverse and dual fog lights
The halogens dont

Looking at upgrading my H4 headlights to these. I'm still new to transporters so should they be plug and play like valeo H7 headlights? Is there anything I need to avoid before I go ahead and order a pair. Thanks!
66 plate t6 t32 4 motion kombi is the model van I'd be fitting them to

Hey, check out ABAKUS Headlight in the AUTODOC app https://m.autodoc.co.uk/abakus/14123784

You'd have to get one of the guys with full led to answer that , I'm still on halogens which even with uprated H7's and led H15 still aren't great .

Wwhat's the difference between H7 H7 and H15 H7 headlamps? Sorry I've not long got the van so I'm pretty green with it all.

Sorry ours is a t5.1 not a t6 so I can't tell you how they work but for ours at least it uses a H15 for drl and main beam and a seperate H7 for dipped beam .

No worries. Thanks for the advice. Surely that still relies on one lamp for two functions still which is the issue with the H4?

With the H7 type headlight having a seperate bulb for dipped and another for main you can actually have all 4 lamps lit at the same time when on high beam ...doesn't help on dipped though .

Are the LEDs that much better then? I'm going to have to get some for the rear anyway as it's like reversing with your eyes closed with the standard set up!
