What “iron filing” remover does people use on their paintwork? Do you put this on before snow foaming?
Gyeon Iron, Valet Pro Dragons Breath or Autosmart Red 7.

As for when to use:

Maintenance wash - wheels before
Full Detail - wheels before and then wheels (again) and bodywork after as part of a 3 stage decontamination process.

I believe that you can buy it for paintwork as well because those metal brake particles also get on the panels, as well as other airborne metal particles. That is why you get those little orange specs on panels (really noticeable on a white van). @Tourershine @Clydiee are you able to share wisdom?
Yep, Iron remover based products are safe on both alloy wheels and paintwork (but as already mentioned, just don't let it dry).

Regarding fall-out remover on paintwork, where does clay-bar come in to the equation? After using fall-our remover?

Just spent a small fortune on 'product' at Halfords including these wash gloves.
I might wear them while mountain biking at Grizedale Forest tomorrow, seeing as it's St. Patricks Day...191373?w=637&h=403.jpg

I can definitely recommend the Autoglym stuff, I managed to get a great finish earlier this afternoon and the van was filthy to start with.
  • Polar Blast
  • Polar Wash
  • Polar Seal
  • Clean Wheels
It was an absolute doddle to do apart from my drive being a bit tight for space. I reckon it took around two hours to do, which wasn't bad considering I haven't hand washed a car or van for years!

use wheel brushes for the Rims,
Full jetwash,
apply Srint spray wax stuff,

Hmm, I may have gone OTT when I did mine:
  • Jetwashed the loose muck off (bottom up)
  • Applied Polar Blast, waited 10 minutes
  • Jetwashed it all off (bottom up)
  • Scrubbed the wheels using the Wheel Cleaner
  • Applied Polar Wash
  • Used microfibre mitts (top down)
  • Jetwash rinse
  • Applied Polar Seal
  • Dried using microfibre cloths
What do you use for the plastics and tyres?
