Dogs - How Do You Transport Yours?

Hi Folks
We are newbies to campervans and to this forum and are going to hire a LWB T6 before we potentially buy one. We have a large German Shepherd and would welcome any advice on how to keep her secure while we are travelling. We got rid of our cage as it was huge - even if we still had it it probably would be too big to use in the van. Any suggestions please ?

Put his/her/their (have to be inclusive, don’t ya know) bed on the floor behind front seats. Make sure there is a barrier between the front seats to stop the dog from wandering through. That’s it!
Others willlecture advise you on the legal requirements, but I have trained my pair of terriers to lie down and stay down!

Leaving aside the legal aspect and looking at it dispassionately, I wouldn't want +70kgs of loose load flying about in the event of an accident.
As a fellow big dog owner I'd be more likely to drive down the motorway and let the kids leave their seat belts off than not have my girl secured, mine is kept in a cage (the dog, not the kids).

Yep, lashing point would do the trick. My cynical view is that if the dog is going to go flying through the air, you’re already in a world of shit anyway! There is a big difference between dogs on the floor behind you and kids/adults in seats directly behind you.
Thought it was a GSD not a pit-pony !

I built a crate under a kombi bed & it was fine in the first van, as it had an open area in front of it. The dogs didn't like it when we swapped to a kombi as it was more enclosed & whippets are weird creatures.
But it's the best solution, other than the fantastic Lintran Box, but that was too high to fit under the bed.
I'm tying them up now but I worry about it. We're swapping back to a camper to have the open space back & I'm going to secure them on the floor, rather than up on the seats.

The weight was in relation to mine (Newfoundland) not the OPs.
That's usually the first two comments though - is that a horse, or have you got a saddle for it.
Hiring a campervan? Presumably seat belts on the rock and roll rear seat? Harness with tether clipped in to seat belt?
No experience myself, but have seen other discussions.

We have a x breed terrier and a cocker (both rescued). No seatbelts in back of campervan. Terrier lays still on bed/seat. Cocker moves from seat to floor and then is sick within 20 minutes from setting off.
Anybody got travel sickness remedies for dogs?
