2016 180 Bi turbo CFCA engine failure is the EGR valve corrosion the cause of the scored and worn out bores

I sent the dealer the letters citizen's advice told me to send with a copy of the conpression test and oil annalersisse report and asked for a replacement engine and he said he was passing it on to his legal representative and that they would be in touch.
You should still be able to reject it..unless you've done a conversion? I had mine 5 months and 28 days when I told them to take it back, essentially they had no choice but to give me a full refund.

Straight back to CA. Don’t let them delay you until the 6 months has gone. Maybe even a solicitor. If they get you a new engine it’s money we’ll spent.
Do you believe the garage actually have a legal dept? How big an enterprise are they?
Ring them up and just ask to be put through to their legal department see what happens.

Hi, Small independent garage 1 owner. Said he was selling on behalf of a friend and it had full service history, but CA said becouse he advertised for sale on his website and Auto trader with no mention of selling for a friend he is liable as a dealer. Its only when I went to view the vehicle he told me this even so he gave me an invoice and I then bank transfered the money to his friends business account.

The cynic in me thinks this is a way of selling vehicles in the belief that he can avoid his legal warranty obligation.
I’d get a friend to go and view another of his high value vehicles and see if he uses this story again.
Be interesting if he does.

Aa said before, becouse of his actions he's liable as a dealer, so all this will come back to him, and its upto him to take it with his friend regarding the outcome.

I'm calling cv tomorrow for more advice as his so called legal representative hasn't contacted me as yet and its been 14 days, but forgive me if wrong, but I'm sure CA told be as long as I've started the complaint before the six month period it doesn't lapse becouse the claim is ongoing.

Ask for the op to respond within 7 days, you have a legal right to set a time line (so long as it’s reasonable), stating that if you do not hear anything you will start legal proceedings to recover the losses you have suffered, if no satisfactory outcome is agreed.

Have a google, I have a depstech but it's 8mm had a quick search and found this that claims the lens is 5.5 mm
Hi Loz, thank you for that. I've decided to have the engine rebuilt. My indi gave me a price for the engine to be removed and all ancillaries taken off and the put back on and engine put back in. A company near whare I live will rebuild the engine, just waiting for a price, they've got an excellent reputation as my indie sends everything there. I'm also going to ask them to, take pictures of the engine damage and wear as they dismantle it, as I'm still going to fight my case, but as this could take some time at least I have peace of mind nowing it's okay. I'll also have the emulating kit and blanking plates as well. Will I need to fit the new Egr cooler, or can I use the old one the the above kit.

Regards Mark

I'm sure it's on the dealer to prove it wasn't at fault if it's within 6 months of purchase (I did a rejection on a car a few years back) speak to Citizens advice they were fantastic when I was having my issues.
In relation to used vehicle sales, the courts will rule in favour of the consumer much more often than in favour of the dealer (to the extent that I *almost* have sympathy for a dealer in certain circumstances). I don't agree with the assessment of CAB though - much better to seek the advice of a solicitor that specialises in this area of law.

Before going down the rebuild route I would meet with a specialist consumer law lawyer and see your options. Forget CAB as in general they just read from a book and can't possibly take into account all scenarios
