I am of an age that if you pulled up to a set of lights or a junction and the engine stopped, you had stalled the vehicle.. I don't think that has ever left me..2 questions please

It has been put on vehicles for emmission reducing. To meet figures needed to sell vehicles..
However it actually makes you use more fuel...

I have the Start Stop function on my 2017 T6. It has the 7 speeds auto box. My brake pedal has two settings. Light touch to hold the van, leaving the engine on. Heavy foot results in the engine turning off. I can't see why I personally would want to disable the Start Stop, though I do have a button for it.
@Rioja John. Assuming it works as it should, can you give us a link the actual cable that you bought please. TIA.
Mine is a 150 manual and was built end Feb. I recall some of the changes that Rattlehead mentioned kicked in around Jan/Feb 21 around emissions, so could be that (I remember as it became the latest reason at the time around delays to orders) If it’s not that, can only assume it’s engine or gearbox related.
If none of that answers it, we may just have to chalk it up as yet another of the bizarre VW build anomalies that never really gets a complete answer.
Not to mention all the extra unnecessary wear and tear on the battery and starter motor.
And let's be honest, does it actually save you a noticeable amount of fuel?
Right here’s the link to the stop start cancelling wires, the RED one is for 6 pin switch.
The BLACK one is for the 10 pin switch the same as my T6.1.

I’ve finally sorted how it works and it’s cancelled the stop start for my T6.1.
I didn’t understand the instructions at first and I programmed all the info given but it did not cancel the stop start, but here goes I’ve tried to show how to programm it and when done every time you turn the ignition on the stop start cancel light comes on.
As soon as ignition is turned on you get this.
I hope you can understand what I’ve written.
Also all this is thanks to @dubber36 posting on another thread.

I have had an old small piece of plywood with 12v touch to switch on/off lights in my Shuttle for a few months. Now I finally bought some stretch carpet I have been able to line it and hide the wires. Might do one for the other side now too. It's not silver but a lot better than bare ply. Plus it's non permanent so I can take the van back to standard without too much cosmetic change when I eventually change the van.
4 x Ramps - drive on fronts Jack up rears and put ramps backwards - loads of room to work and get a jack under the tank to drop it - or (apparently) tee into the diesel return for the feed! Have and get autoterm good heater and good service! Have fun!
How do you know it’s filled if you don’t know how big the tank is? I only ask as I have a panic attack every time I fill the tank with all the horror stories about the problems overfilling causes so I barely dare to put 10 litres in!
The stop part of it is OK, it's the start bit that is doing unnecessary work for little or no gain.
We all have a button for it, and we can all control it with lighter pressure on the brake pedal, but the vans do so many other things automatically for us, why not having this being turned off be one of them too?
With my last bit of carpet I have made and covered a kick board behind the driver's seat base. The vent for the diesel heater is in place as is the triple outlet for mains. Just need to fit the heater and leisure battery.
I made a small shelf which slots into the upper cubbyhole, the one which everything always falls out of as you pull away...
