What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

That looks great @kiter, any chance of the part numbers for this? I've got them for the standard dash but not the comfort. Did you use Shuttle or Caravelle door cards? just curious about the colour match.

Not got the door cards fitted yet, they are off a shuttle though hopefully match ok. I've binned the invoice so unfortunately I dont have the part numbers too hand.

Fitted the puddle light and door card ambient lighting today. Only had enough time to do one door so will do the other one tomorrow if the weather holds off. The lights in the door card are nowhere near as bright as they appear in the photo but they do look OK.

Then I managed to blow the fuse to the 12v socket in the dash by using my tyre inflator in it :(, now to find out which fuse it is...

We changed over our veedub badges for matt black ones. It is sooooooooooo pretty. Next up is to get rid of the lettering (will need a hand from my brother as my dad has given up after the rear badge. It was a bit of a nightmare).
:D

So, this weekend has been a “let’s do a few jobs on the van” kind of weekend. First job was fitting some 6000k HID bulbs. The kit was an eBay special so obviously I was apprehensive but, it arrived and I’m impressed with the quality. All wires are nice and tidy, there are grommets for the rubber dust caps and the ballast boxes look good quality.

I fitted the ballasts to the rear of the headlight unit using double sided sticky foam as the cable ties supplied were sh1t! The grommet fitted in the dust cap really well. They were a pain to fit as I’d never changed a bulb on the T6. The battery came out whilst doing the passenger side and the top of the air box had to be removed to get to the drivers side.

Really pleased with the results. I’ve got the obligatory bulb out light on the dash but there’s no flickering and the lights are a nice crisp white. The original H7’s in the THQ V2’s weren’t amazing but these elevate these units to the next level.1F296145-2C4D-427E-AC12-BDA19317583C.jpeg A5B5A237-1A32-44E8-86B0-8C0547B0B616.jpeg 0A927FFB-4B8B-4FEA-9EC2-9BC6D9CA00DC.jpeg

Next job was to Matt black the VW badges. Obviously, I could buy some ready painted but I thought I’d give this one a go myself. Bought myself some bumper spray from Halfrauds and set about getting them sprayed. Really pleased with the end result. Cost me £7 and if in 6 months they start to flake, I’ll buy some others! :)

Next job was to debadge the tailgate. Easy but effective mod. All you need is a hairdryer, some fishing line and some patience! The residue can be tough to remove but I just used some tar and road film remover.

Today’s jobs were mostly sorting out yesterdays jobs
1. Removed door card again to put foam wrap on ratting cable connector from yesterdays pocket lights install.
2. Located blown fuse from yesterdays pumping tyres up using 12v pump, no spare of the right size ☹️. ordered spare fuses from Amazon.
3. Installed puddle light and pocket lights in the other door. I learn fast so put foam wrap on suspect cable before refitting door card this time. No rattle in this door, so far anyway

hi,
looking to do this myself, so do i just need regular fishing fishing line from a fishing shop?
and what did you use to apply the tar/road film remover??

thank you @RichDavies82
I had a spray bottle (I’ve used it all now) that I had from a while ago. I just sprayed it on, let it work it’s magic, then just wiped it off. If you use the hair dryer to get the majority of the residue off, it just leaves a bit of stickiness.
In terms of fishing line, just normal regular line from a tackle shop (unless you know any anglers)?
