USB "memory" for tracks with T6.1 Media

I've a USB set up with various folders for music now that I am unable to use my old school classic ipod in the T6.1.

However it seems to be randomly forgetting where it has stopped at the last play and going to a song that is somehow in the favourites although when I try to manage favourites I cannot see anything in there?

I have had a search on here, FB pages, internet and the book and I guess I am just searching incorrectly or maybe it is just a feature?

Sorry no experience of using a USB stick in my van.

In my previous van I used to stream over bluetooth to the van headunit from my iPhone but in my current van I exclusively use Apple CarPlay.
