Tailgate Leak Near Door Handle

Hi has anyone had an issue with the tailgate door handle leaking?

I have done a few repairs to this already to pinpoint it:

• Replaced third brake light
• Repaired previous reversing camera

I think it may be the handle as when the door is up it drops from the locking mechanism and when down it does pool in the bottom.

Any ideas? - you can see a water droplet to the right of my finger

Update:

Had a go at this myself - there are three torq bolts holding the handle - remove these. You can shift the inside mechanism by pulling back the plate inside to do this.

The handle then has two plastic spring clips which are still holding it in position - don’t yank from the outside. Instead gently press one of these and the handle will pop out - the cable van now be unpludded from the outside ( this stops the handle falling on the floor!)

Mine was caked in mud - I cleaned this - noticed a tear in the rubber - reglued this and put back!

Hopefully you have cured the leak by removing the handle and finding the tear in the rubber!

Was caked in dirt - so it could also have been this in between the rubber seals and bodywork too. Will keep an eye on it
