T6-T6.1 facelift with ACC Radar

Hiya folks!

I’ve had someone ask about sorting their ACC since they’ve fitted a T6.1 front end.

I know that the radar units are different so using the newer style is out but with the positioning of the new unit, I don’t think the old style unit will calibrate so high up.

Anyone come up with a solution?

You could try to experiment with different data sets but ideal solution would be to adjust radar height parameter in original data set for T6.

I bet the T6 ACC radar will calibrate just fine -

Radar's field of view in elevation is anyways fairly large so I wouldn't expect such a slight change to affect it.​

Aesthetically this would look amazing but with how they have worded their request, I think they are repairing a van for resale instead of a keen owner looking to make their van nicer. Shame as the van looks great!

I was going to side load different datasets to experiment but wanted to ask if anyone had resolved this (streamlining my work day lol)

I got to the van after posting above and as it turns out, the bloody van doesn't have ACC! Just basic city breaking etc. So the sensor is more than happy where it is with no faults on the dash once everything was checked diagnostically.

I bet the T6 ACC radar will calibrate just fine -

Hey, just been looking at the travelin lite t6 to t6.1 front end upgrade. But it says not suitable if you have the radar sensor.



I was thinking to upgrade the front but my van has the radar is it still possible

Hi Paddy - sorry for the delay in getting back to you (notifications weren't working) - yes, it did. Being honest, I'm new to VW vans, (and any vans for that matter ) so I hadn't got round to using the radar. The people that did the conversion said the t6.1 upgrade would mean the radar wouldn't work anymore.

As I just commented to @paddy26 - upgrading to T6.1 front end will have stopped the radar working on my van - this is what the people converting it said, but I've never used the radar function, so not tested. I'm doing a long drive tomorrow and Thursday, so will try and test it and let you know.

Hi. Can any one help?
I am currently in the process of fitting t6.1 bumper headlights wings etc to my t6. My t6 has a front assist radar. I don’t have cruise control, however this will be going on. I’ve already fitted a mfsw although not coded.
So my question is what do I do with the radar when fitting to the new t6.1 bumper. The bracket on the t6 doesn’t allow for fitting into the square made for it on the t6.1. I’ve looked for the correct bracket on the net, with no luck.
Can I remove the radar? Do I need it for standard cruise control? Now my wife is nagging me…… You should have left it alone with the black unpainted bumpers!, I’ve now just replaced her shoes in her wardrobe with my black work boots

The bracket for the radar on a T6.1 which fits in the Grille support is:
Plastic Radar Holder 7LA 807 873 A - Number 11 on parts diagram
Adjustment part for the radar holder is 7LA 807 249 - Number 13 on parts diagram
Adjustment knob is 7LA 807 897 - Number 12 on the parts diagram

So ordered the radar bracket for the T6.1 and all the bits only to find my radar on T6 is different! ARRRGH!
So now I’ve strapped it up with cable ties and am £43 down! Ssshh don’t tell my good wife!
Question. I’m going to have cruise control out on this hopefully by Hazydays after they remap etc.. but does any one know, will this sensor put a big spanner into my plans? If I leave it with the original t6 radar. Secondly the newer t6.1 radars have different connection plugs. Guessing I could alter that.
I’ve put the question to hazeydays too but I really need to be put out of my misery soon!

Your radar has to be secured correctly in its oem place. You might be able to relocate to the new place but will depend on how its set up from factory. The adas works on sensors, camera and radar and has to be calibrated after each removal of the bumper, windscreen or radar. Motor industry standards really upset the insurance companies when they told them that.

Oh no! Do you know can I remove it it permanently?

You would lose some function's if you did that. I would get in contact with a local independent adas specialist as they will be able to advise you on relocating it or place it where it should go as the shroud should be separate from the grill if I remember. We have to fit it like the manufacturer because of pas125 and can't deviate from it.
