T6.1 with leaking sliding-windows

Those with leaking windows, is someone able to try a simple fix and see if it works? - get some Gummi Pflege rubber spray and spray it on the rubber that seals between the slider and the fixed glass. Will help the rubber to be more pliable and it may seal better stopping water ingress.

I did exactly that.
Cleaned all the rubber seals, they looked like they’d never been done, then treated with Gummi Pflege.
We had a hell of a lot of rain here over the weekend and they’re not leaking at the moment.
I’m going to reapply the Gummi Pflege every couple of months from now on.

Apparently VW have an answer..
Replace the windows. If out of warranty, they will just seal the windows!
Cowboys!!

In retrospect, my last posting was a little 'gruff'

I seem to be lucky in that the car dealer that supplied the vehicle, even though out of VW warranty is wanting to do the best by me , and we have agreed to remove the pretty useless Kombi units and replace with aftermarket ones. He is also of the same opinion that it would be better to get it done by people with experience.

Im sure there are plenty of people had windows fitted to vans here, so I'd be grateful for recommendations.

Yikes! Replacing their own windows with after market ones?!

In life, they say.. if its too good to be true it probably is..
Having done all the work for the dealer, they decided not to pay to replace the windows with aftermarket ones.. offering a measly £300.00. This would not have been too bad, if they had not already promised they would get them sorted..
So, we agreed on a total refund, and I'm looking for another van in a few days time.

If anyone can suggest a dealer that supplies good , recent vans at sensible prices, do let me know :)

I'm giving up on the VW dealer, my van has been there twice and they can't seem to spot the leak apparently. Even after an hour of water testing. Every time I get the van back, it rains and leaks again. Have video footage this time around and have asked them to water test with the van at a incline to mirror my driveway. Losing faith in VW and this is my first experience.

I meant to say.. I have taped up my windows.. and they still leak.. a lot less, but still a dribble is a dribble and unwelcome at my age :D

Hi folks,

I have just purchased a t6.1 (used). The sliding window on the passenger side has a small leak. It looks as though the water is flowing down the inside if the glass. So its not getting to the drain channel. The drains do flow water when I squirt water in to them.
All VW dealer near won't / cant look at this until Feb next year. Which is a long time away..

So I was hoping to take the sliding window out to have a look.

Does anyone know how to remove this type of window?( Pictures. ) The online video show a horizontal opening clip. Mines is vertical, and the plastic all seems to be one piece.

Anyone any suggestions on fixes?

Thanks

Im just catching up on this thread.I've a 19 plate sportline from new with the same issue on the passenger window.
I noticed it about 4 months ago but judging by the mark inside on the paint its been doing in probably for at least six months prior.
I went back to the dealing last week and wanting to know what's going on after all this time and was told the bits are on back order.
I was expecting it to just be a seal but he said they've got to get a specialist company in to change the whole bonded in glass. Fortunately its under warranty as he said it would be nearly £700.
As they wouldn't do I temporary fix I did and applied a bead of sanitary sealant around the seal which has cured the issue until the glass is In stock.
I have had several transporters prior to this with no issues but this one seems to be a Friday van as I've got a long list of warranty issues waiting to be fixed.

If it’s a 6.1 it must be under warranty, get a warranty repair and don’t accept it until it’s fixed.

It is going to be done under warranty along with all the other jobs but they can't get the glass at the moment .He thinks VW might do a recall as they have another 3 at the branch waiting to be done but we will see

Don’t hold your breath, as far as I’m aware there have been issues with leaking side windows since the T5 was introduced in 2003!

Wether there is recall or not is not really my concern as long as they fix the issue which they have agreed to.

I'm going to show this tread to my wife. She really wanted side windows in our new t6.1, but I convinced her that a panel van would be better and we could always get windows fitted later on. I'm so glad I did! I seriously can't believe that these windows leak! It's a bit of a joke on VW's part!!

My new T6.1 kombi is leaking on very window seal.

Both sliders are dripping on the main seal. Inside the doors have a wee puddle so I assume that's from the actual windows too as the slider seal drips go straight on the seats.

Worst yet. When I open the driver's door I get a flood of water coming out of a wee drain hole on the door by the arch. With door shut it's not draining off.. if I go away for a few weeks in winter I'd fully expect the whole door to be flooded when I got home... So I thought to myself how can this be so shit?! Attached is what I found. Massive gap on the window seal so water just pisses inside. What a joke. I'm 100 miles away from dealer. Just making a huge list of all the problems so I can take it to get sorted in one go.

Also, on a separate issue the sliding doors can't be closed from inside, the handles don't release the latch. And the child lock function doesn't work intermittently....

Has the COVID backlog affected the build quality on these??

Sliding windows are a different design on the MY21 by the way.
