Loose external sliding door handle

Possible solution
Hi. New to the forum here. I had this problem. I had to pull the handle to the limit before the sliding door would open, and sometimes got stuck inside because the interior handle didn’t pull the cable enough.
So, I pulled the panel off inside the door and removed the latch mechanism that locks the door shut at the rear of the door. (opposite end to handle). 2 bolts photo
Removed the cable from the lever with holes in it and removed the cable retainer to release the locking mechanism from the assembly.
I then thoroughly cleaned the springs and various moving parts with wd40 and a small bottle brush. Reassembled and it worked 👍
I should add that I don’t think it’s a permanent solution but it is really good now and with the latch working smoothly there probably won’t be as much cable stretch.

Had same issue with mine. It was the spring on the mounting bracket tha'd dropped out when the pin got dislodged. Fiddly job but doable with a bit of persisiance View attachment 246410
Probably a long shot, but does anyone know if there is a part number for the spring, or if it can be bought separately?

My sliding door handle is loose and starting to foul the paintwork because of it. I did previously take the interior panel off and re-seated the L shaped pin, but I couldn't see the spring.

If no part number and it's not possible to buy the spring separately, I don't suppose anyone would have the length/diameter (even roughly would be of help!) of the spring and I could try and source an alternative to do the job?

Does the spring sit tightly around the L pin?

Just spent 3 hours pulling all the gubbins out of the door in a bid to sort a wobbly door pull that has too much travel before door pops. What a waste of time. Pin thing in correct place and no obvious means of adjustment anywhere. All back together and just as bad as before 😤

Could someone check their T6 slider for comparison please? My door opens in two stages. As I pull handle the latch at the bottom of the door is opened, and then pulling the handle further then pops the catch at the rear of the door. Is this normal? Opened a T6.1 slider today and the handle needed very little travel for the door to be opened.

You will have to take off the inside panel, from memory when I fixed a mates handle that had come lose there is a screw you have to tighten which pulls the handle in tight. Search YouTube there’s a video on there showing how the handle comes apart
Hi mate I have the same issue with a wobbly handle that has damaged my paintwork, it’s going in to get sorted at the body shop soon , so thought I’d better get the handle sorted so it doesn’t do it again. The pin seems to be in place, but am look for the screw to tighten to reduce the” play “in the handle

Can you take a photo from the inside?

Looks ok to me, the screw you can see is the one you have to loosen to remove the lock and tighten up to refit.

Thank you, Yeah I’ve undone it to take the handle off and put the handle back in and tightened it up as much as possible but there’s handle is still really loose . Thinking I may have to purchase a new carrier ..

Possibly, on the ones I’ve done they have always tightened up, I think it’s the spring that pulls it tight

strong possibility a 5 year old has pulled/hung off mine, just infuriating that there is no evidence of damage or ware so no clue as to how to sort without just changing out the whole lot (likely dealership solution).

Changed the carrier and handle, the spring on the original was tired, you can see from the photo between original and new. All now working well 👍🏻
