Insurance Companies

Has anyone had any insurance from Flux direct? Assuming it is linked to Adrian Flux. Had a good quote from them via a comparison site and thought I’d ask before I start following up

Caravanwise

Standard campervan in what must be a high risk area, if my car insurance is anything to go by; tried all those on the list and these came out top.

@Pauly , if you want to add to the list?

I used them for the last two years and they were fine.

Be wary with the price comparison sites as they don't list 'commuting' as an option so if you do need that coverage the price may change.

.......and should have mentioned, I now have my modified T6 on a multi vehicle policy with my 1960s Land Rover with Heritage. They blew away all other quotes and are a great company to deal with. They guy I was speaking to knew exactly what we do when modifying and converting our T6s.

Cheers @Mooncat you dont happen to recall the name of the person you dealt with do you?

It was Jamie Hearnden I spoke to at Heritage.

I was all set to renew with Flux Direct having got them to reduce my renewal quote which had increased considerably from last year and getting the quote from Heritage was more of a courtesy thing - I've been using Heritage on the Land Rover since 2001 and set up a multi vehicle policy back in December so I could add my modified Fiat X1/9 to the policy this year and promised to give them the opportunity to quote for the T6 thinking they wouldn't be competitive. They beat every price on the price comparison website.

I've just insured with A Plan (through Thatcham office, but using Ibrahim) and had a great experience. The price was a massive chunk less than I was expecting. I was on the phone for an hour, but to be fair he was sat in his kitchen so we had a bit of a wait for systems to catch up.

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if you could give me some advice? I’ve just bought a vw conversion van and I am really struggling to get insurance quotes online and then when I am they’re ridiculous prices £1500+

I’ve bought my van through all seasons leisure who have said to use safeguard but they will not give me a quote online, is this normal? I am 28 and have 5 years no claims, and have been driving for 10 years...

I don’t pick the van up until the 15th because it is being painted and finished. I’ve used brentacre for previous insurances in the past because they always come in so much cheaper, but I’m waiting on them getting back to me.
I am going to use my van as my normal day to day vehicle and I’m starting to worry that I may not get insured without having to remortgage my house! Any advice you have would be great, thanks in advance!

I‘d recommend a quote from NFU Mutual for ‘motor caravan’ insurance.

Great thanks, I will check them out. Just had a very good quote from safeguard and they have included breakdown cover etc and have added my partner with his points so fingers crossed.
Thankfully I found this thread!

My local NFU wouldn't quote me, wrong postcode they said, I tried Loz's contact but never got a reply, went with Brentacre in the end.

Guys I am facing a particular problem with Academy insurance (underwritten by Aviva) - a huge price rise!

I've been struggling with this for 3 years and they were the only one who'd insure me.

My T6 is converted and registered at DVLA as a camper van. However it is a company owned van & that appears to be the issue. Direct Line gave me 2 weeks to move and would not insure the van. Safeguard, A plan and others wouldn't do it either. I have 9 years NCD on it.

So my question is does anybody have a DVLA recognised registered T6 camper van conversion on their company books and if so who do you insure with?

Can highly recommend Brentacre. Very easy to deal with and for me was considerably cheaper than anyone else.

We found Admiral Multicar very good price, excellent service and changes can be made online. We added the recently purchased, last week,T6 camper conversion 2016 and to add it comprehensive until main policy renewal in November was £25,almost fell of chair.Vehicle insurance in N.I is usually more expensive than Mainland due to claims awards but for an additional £25 for over 3 months insurance was a steal, plus more vehicles on multicar adds more discount.

I just had a quote from Brentacre. Outstanding info. It was hundreds cheaper than Adrian Flux, and 2 hundred cheaper than my latest quote with Admiral.

I have recently changed from Adrian Flux to Direct Line. They include commuting and the changes to my van.

Just been going through all of this. Definitely worth shopping around and sharing the cheapest quotes with the other companies and seeing if they will match.
For my new T6.1 currently under conversion (will be kept on street sadly)
Worth noting that A-Plan and Brentacre who both use Markerstudy as the insurers only allow full cover over 30 days in Europe, whereas Justkampers and Adrian Flux use Ageas which allow 90 days fill cover.

As far as I was concerned, they all wanted a tracker fitter - probably because of my on-street parking and the van being valued at around 50k.

Justkampers get terrible online reviews. Adrian Flux get great reviews and were a lot more friendly to deal with, so I'm planning on going with them. As

A-Plan - Trustpilot – 4.8 stars
£690
30-day European cover then minimum cover in EU
£500 excess
Insured with Markerstudy

Brentacre - Trustpilot – 3.4 stars
£690
Said they couldn’t send forms – but cover (Markerstudy) the same as A-Plan

Justkampers - Trustpilot – 2.1 stars
£560
90-day European insurance.
Insured through Ageas
£500 excess

Adrian Flux - Trustpilot - 4.5 stars
£750 - but then reduced to £600.
£450 excess.
Ageas and 90 day European cover.
