Just Kampers Insurance - JUST DON'T

So middle of March it was time to renew my T6 campervan insurance. As usual I looked around. My existing insurance was with Caravan Guard and to be honest, although it had gone up, it was not that bad at about £580 per year. The problem I had was that my son who is on the insurance now lives in France and Caravan Guard said that he could not longer be on the van insurance. So I filled out a few online quotes as one does. None of them came back with an acceptable quote.

One of the online quotes I obtained was from Just Kampers Insurance. That came back over £800 so I forgot about it. Then for days and days my phone was ringing with a Basingstoke number identified as possible spam. I did not answer initially but after a few days I got curious, perpared to fend off a call from Nigeria, I answered. It was Just Kampers Insurance. Actually the person on the end turned out to be quite helpful and they would allow my son on the insurance and the price came down to about £507 underwritten by a company called Herts Insurance.

Then the trouble started! They wanted evidence of the previous no claims bonus, and a code for each of the named drivers licences. They asked to up load these to their web site. I got all of those but could I upload them? NO! the web site firstly seemed to be in two places Just Kampers Shop and Just Kampers Insurance. After finally logging into the right one there seemed no place to upload documents. Next visit I could not log in at all. Reset passwords and all the usual things but no joy. So phone customer services - easy they said here is an email address to send your documents to. Done that, got a confirmation of reciept.

But NO - they don't have the documents. They keep asking me to log into the web site for a message. I can't log in, it does not work! I emailed again and told them the date I had sent the documents, I got a confirmation. But that did not help, still continuous emails saying log in to the web site. NOT POSSIBLE.

So I phoned cusotmer services again. No answer this time but an option to leave your phone number for a call back. Which I did. Next day a call back from Customer Services. When I explained the problem the answer as that the call back facility could not deal with Insurance issues. So I had call the insuance line which I did today at 17:36. The emails recieved say that the line is open 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday - but a message that the office is closed.

Tried again and again to log into the web site. Finally found a user name and password that seemed to work. Click on 'my policies' and it asks you to log in again - but this time the same user name and password does not work

I will try once again tomorrow - but after that I will cancel the insurance.

My message - don't bother with these people. Far too much hassle.
 
I’ve been insured with just kampers for 6 years now and never had any problems. Never claimed or bothered them at all really though so not really tested them. They did say that I’d need to get a tracker a few years ago so I asked how it would work what the costs would be then checked other insurers and they were the same deal basically so I went back to JK and asked how much it would be without a tracker, long pause, then told that actually it would be slightly cheaper without a tracker! Waste of time but ended up back on the same deal with JK, this year just renewed
 
Isn’t it just Adrian Flux Insurance brokered by Just Kampers? Surely it’s better to cut out the middleman.
 
Adrian Flux is a broker. The underwriters seem to be Herts insurance.
 
Thr Flux app is simplicity itself for uploading documents and photos.

Apparently Adrian Flux acquired Herts Insurance in 2005.
It’s worth subscribing to Which for the minimum period (£5?)to check out motor insurance ratings. The last time I looked NFU came out well in front and Markerstudy the underwriters for the very popular Brentacre were ranked very badly.
You will never know for sure until it’s time to make a claim.
 
I use the JustKampers app to upload my tracker cert every year, and to load all the evidence when I finished the conversion for agreed value. Seems to work.
 
Just Kampers are part of Adrian Flux, just another trading name as they bought the brand.
The issue with uploading documents could be a compatibility issue with your computer or phone?
That doesn’t explain the issues with email though.
I’d go on LinkedIn and find the ceo and message him directly, that tends to work 😁
 
Did you try to “channel it into the Flux Capacitor, it might just work”?
 
Been with Just Kampers for at least 10years, even had a claim in against me and they sorted it all. Always nice to ring them and get an answer straight away compared to other insurance companies I've had.
Although your issue seems very annoying. I know the submitting documents is a bit awkward but worked for me.
Hope you get it sorted. Can always cancel if within 14days and get all of your money back.

What do you mean? Why would you want to insure something not kept at the address you are giving?
They won’t ask for written proof, but you will go through a credit check, which will include your address.

Not always. And the policy wordings, and insurers differ between them both.
Adrian Flux and Just Kampers are both brokers, with access to different schemes.
 
I feel for you (OP). I have used Howdens 2yrs in a row and it's got cheaper each year with no hassle. I guess no matter who you are with it's fine so long as you don't change your situation. People saying they have had no issues with JK or anyone else are likely the lucky ones that haven't had to change much.

I'd imagine if JK try to communicate any changes to Herts ins then that's where the complexities begin. If they don't have an actual person inputting the changes in then they are likely syncing a web portal to another web portal and that is probably throwing up cross platform / formatting issues that JK aren't willing to amend or adjust themselves?

I had a log in that seemed to work, using my email address as user name. But there was no message. I tried confirming my user name and password and was sent a 'clue' to my user name which I simply did not recognise. Finally after a few attempts I got hold of customer services who gave me my user name stating that this is what I had set - it was completely unrecognsied, not a format that I would have used and I absolutely definately did not set that as a user name! The helful woman I spoke to did however insist that I set this name! However it turns out they are not going to cancel my insurance and miraculously had just found the documents I sent them!

I have not logged in with the new user name yet.

Glad it’s looking like you’re getting it sorted.
Just something to check, some websites and browsers will offer the function of generating usernames and passwords so be careful what you click as they can then select random formats etc.
you can check on your password app or on the browser saved passwords.
Just a thought.
 
I've used stacks of companies and stacks of insurance sites , created stacks of different passwords and usernames.
All been seamless so far in 15 to 20 years

Interesting to hear that they may be basically the same company, given I’ve just switched from Adrian Flux to Just Kampers - for £190 less than AFs renewal price.

I also found that Adrian Flux were somewhat ‘gaslight-y’ in what they initially told me when I purchased the policy compared to subsequent conversations I had with them later down the line. So not overall a particularly positive experience with them.

Now hoping all goes smoothly with Just Kampers!
