'Inspection Now' message

Service interval display
The service display is shown on the instrument cluster.
Service schedules at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are divided into two categories, oil change service and inspections. The service interval display provides information on the next service which includes an oil change and on the next scheduled inspection. Scheduled services can also be found in the service schedule.

The service appointment currently displayed can be found at Vehicles without text messages on the top right of the instrument cluster display:
  • 1: inspection.
  • 2: oil change service.
In vehicles with fixed oil change service, services take place at predefined intervals.
The service intervals are calculated on an Individual basis in vehicles with flexible oil change service.
Advances in technology have brought about a considerable reduction in servicing requirements. The flexible oil change is a new service offered by Volkswagen to ensure that the oil is only changed when necessary. The length between the oil change services (maximum of 2 years) is also determined by the conditions under which the vehicle is used and personal driving style. The service reminder is displayed 20 days before the service is due. The distance is rounded to the nearest 100 km; the remaining time is rounded to full days. The current service information cannot be opened until you have driven 500 km since the last service. Until this point, the display only shows lines.

Service reminder
If the vehicle is due to be serviced, a service reminder will appear on the display when the ignition is switched on.

In vehicles without text display, a spanner symbol will appear on the instrument cluster along with a display in km and a clock symbol showing the time left before the next service appointment is due in days.
The number of kilometres shown corresponds to the maximum number of kilometres that can still be driven until the service appointment is due. In addition, a symbol in the top right corner of the display specifies which service appointment the reminder is for (1 for inspection, 2 for oil change service).

If the service reminder is displayed for both service appointments (1 and 2 in the top right corner of the instrument cluster display), the distance and the display in days for the next service appointment applies in vehicles without text display.

In vehicles with text display, Oil change or Inspection in --- km or --- days appears in the instrument cluster display.

Service event
If a service Is due, a signal will sound and the spanner symbol will appear for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on.
In vehicles with text display, Oil change now! or Inspection now! appears In the instrument cluster display.

Accessing a service message
You can access the current service messages whenever the ignition is switched on, the engine is not running and the vehicle is stationary.
  • Press and hold down the [menu/clock] button in the instrument cluster as often as possible until the spanner symbol and 1 in the top right corner of the display appears. The values shown apply to the oil change service.
  • Press the [menu/clock] button on the instrument cluster again. The spanner symbol appears and the number 2 will appear on the top right-hand corner of the display. The values shown apply to the inspection.
  • OR: select the Settings menu.
  • Select the menu option Info in the Service submenu.
If a service Is overdue, this is indicated by a minus sign in front of the mileage or trip reading.

Resetting oil change service
If the oil change service was not performed by a Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles workshop, it can be reset as follows:

Vehicles with text Display:
Switch off the ignition.
Press and hold down the [o.o/SET] button in the instrument cluster.
Restart the ignition.
Release the [o.o/set] button.

Be ready for the Service Manager (salesman) to try and convince you do do a whole load of ‘extra’ work. They are somewhere in between rattlesnakes and leeches

ask them to check everything that might need fixing whilst you still have your warranty in placed - they should know the usual things that go wrong

So... interesting.

I called my local VW commercial service department to book an appointment and they explained I should wait for and extended message which would include 'Oil or Service', whereas my current message is 'Inspection Now'. She explained I would therefore pay for an inspection and recommended I wait. Having checked the VW Service History she confirmed the van received a Service in January 2020.

Is this the correct approach? If so, should I reset this message?

go into your MFD and see what it says . . https://www.t6forum.com/threads/mfd-service-interval-confused.9330/

then compare it to the oil/full . . . small/large service interval.

.

how many miles has the van done since the jan 2020 service? --- it may just be that it was set to an automatic 12mnth reminder, and and not based on miles driven.

.

I purchased the van following a new conversion in August 2020 with 10k miles, so not sure of the miles completed since the service in Jan - I'll go and check the MFD.

Checked MFD. Assume all okay for now, no service required. How do I reset the inspection interval?

If you reset via the MFD you will set the 12mnth service interval.

Vcds can clear just the inspection message, but it’s there for a reason you should still have it inspected annually that does not mean a full service

can the notice for an Inspection be turned off by pressing certain buttons etc, having bought the vehicle 120 miles away and then realising the instruction hadn't been turned off the week before I bought when work had been done. my local Breeze centre say they are not allowed to turn it off.!

Thread merge - see above.
Oh and welcome to the forum!

I've just been through this thread and still confused! I bought the van almost a year ago with the service plan of 2 'free' service. Inspection in 30 days is now showing. Is the inspection deemed as a service, i.e. uses up one of the two included in the service plan? It shows service in 145 days. 3 years old last week and 28000 miles. Thanks.

No,it's not a service.
Although the woman on the service desk tried to charge me for one..when booking in.
All sorted on the day..and performed, gratis.

As I'm on the time and distance regime, I get serviced annually, so my inspection normally coincides with the full service.

Hi all,
I have a 2018 T6 that reached the 75,000 km mark.

It started to remind me of the maintenace service a while back. I performed this maintenance elsewhere so nobody erased the reminder.

Looking in Youtube I found a way to erase it but it turns out mine has TWO reminders, it seems. I have not been able to erase it. It shows an "INSPEK_" message in the dashboard for the longest time.

I didn't find any reference to this in previous posts here. Does anyone knows how to reset this second reminder? Your input will be greatly appreciated. TIA
