I have a 2023 plate that i purchased a few months ago that had done 6k miles. The van has now reached 14k and therefore requires a service.

I live in glasgow area so contacted lookers as they're an authorised dealer. I have been quoted £286 for a service, which is more than i expected. The van is still under warranty till next year, should i just bite the bullet and pay this?

I seen a recommendation for a garage in Paisley, JR Volkswagen Centre Paisley. I called them and they quoted me £200 for the service, but i domt think theyre are an accredited VW garage.

Should i just get a service plan & go to lookers? Anyone here have the service plan? Keeping in mind im still under warranty.

Any advice welcome.

You can get it serviced anywhere, but only a dealer or a marque specialist will apply automatic software updates, and only a dealer will automatically carry out "campaign" work (essentially recall work not considered serious enough to issue an actual recall), so to some extent you sort of get what you pay for.

Does not have to be a dealer in order to maintain the warranty, provided they use OE quality parts and do the job exactly by the book.

On the other hand, step outside the dealer network and once your warranty expires you have torpedoed any chance whatsoever of a goodwill contribution if something expensive breaks 3 days later.

Theres no right answer, only what suits you for your money. Swings and roundabouts.

If that’s the first service it’s overdue and VW use any excuse to avoid warranty claims. I’d get it done soon.

Shit! I've been going by the arnold clark app which states the first service is due in 2 years or 14000 miles! I’ll need to speak with VW tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.

My van was due its 2 year service. Only 13000 miles. My nearest vw van centre quoted £463. I've arranged a service package with their team that covers 2 services for £24 a month for 24 months. Also given a direct number to arrange a package when this one is finished to extend with a further 2 year warranty and service package which includes 2 further services and 2 mot's. I'd rather have money earning interest in my savings than pay in a lump sum. Also keeps official vw service record intact which can't hurt residuals.
