Heater blowing hot-air only

Hi Leigh, all good thanks mate, hope you had a good Xmas?
I can help, what happened to the other one?
Great thanks mate, hope you had a good one too.

Turns out I also had an issue with the main control unit. It basically continued to send a signal to the motor and rather that stopping at the hot and cold as set, it continued spinning which snapped the internal clip.

All sorted now with a new control panel but now need a new quadrant.

All fun.

No worries contact me on 07880620367 and we can sort it

Hi Tony P, do you have any more of the small white plastic heater control arms that you 3D printed? Mine has broken again and got stuck on cold!
Cheers
Shipster

Hi Shipster, yes I have got one if you contact me on 07880620367 we can sort payment and your details to send it too.

Looks like i have similar problem now, tomorrow I'm going to check that arm, only difference is, front left heating works, right one and back doesn't, it's strange

Hi @Ads_Essex, still not 100% but partially due to my laziness!!

The short version is I replaced the stepper motor which opens/closes the hot/cold flap, also replacing the plastic control arm with the one Tony P supplied.

It then needed plugging in to reset the HVAC controls as the new motor needed to be calibrated to factory settings. A local specialist helped me out here as it wasn't playing ball at first.

The hot/cold selection was then sorted but the cycling of vent positions continued. After a little more troubleshooting and signal testing of various wiring (again by the local VW specialist) We're 99% sure this is a fault in the heater control panel but I just haven't picked up a replacement yet.

Hi, any chance you can post a couple of pics with some guidance how you changed the stepper motors? Cheers

Its different problem, any ideas?

Hi have a similar issue, when cold is selected, I’m only getting red hot air coming from any position it is set to, even if the blower is set to 0 i.e off I am still getting a slow blow of hot air coming into the cab, I have had the glovebox out and found broken Actuator Fan Air Flap Air Intake (see picture) Part Number for reference 7H1 907 511 B, I replaced this yesterday thinking this was the cause but I’m afraid I am still only getting hot air in the cab which after a long journey is extremely hot.

I cannot see anything else visually and there are no faults showing on a scan, any thoughts what this could now be.20220304_083355.jpg

It's because you have broken arm on driver side also, take out plastic cover on top of pedals. You will see other side of blower box. You can manually close flap there. There is guy here who 3d printed that arm because you can't buy it. I'm going to change blower box personally.

Hi I’m guessing that’s not a T6 as a T6 is different?
I will attach a pic of the T6 one

Just to add, changing this part only controls the flap which opens and closes exterior air and interior recirculation as per the dedicated button on the heater control.

Mines a T6 16 plate as per pic.
I don’t understand why the arms are different!
I can send you one as in pic if you want.
Please contact me on 07880620367 to discuss. Cheers Tony

Thanks Tony, yes that is very strange, i brought the Genuine like for like Actuator which obviously had the arm built onto it from VW, had i known that just the arm could be replaced i wouldn't of bothered, needless to say this still hasn't sorted the issue as to why i am still getting hot air blowing with no cold at all in the cabin.
I will look under the drivers side peddles as advised by elgreg2 to see if i can spot anything broken.

That arm looks like the one off a T6.1!
Is the new one the same as the old arm?
You will be able to move the flaps manually as said.

yep same arm removed and exactly the same part fitted, its working as it should, i obviously have/had two faults and this fault is not the cure for the hot air, i had read somewhere that VW new the Actuator was trouble some in the T6 so maybe i got lucky and had the upgraded part which is still current in the T6.1. who knows.

I hope you get it sorted, sorry I couldn’t help.
Ps. Don’t want to be negative but they still break in the 6.1 too

Morning all
T6 heater permanently stuck on hot, doesn’t make any difference what direction it’s pointing in or fan speed , air con doesn’t change it either !
Any ideas appreciated

Maybe the same issue as this.. only flap is stuck
