[Guide] 12v/240v Power Inverters -- How I Done It --

Those inverters have pass through as well which is good, of you have EHU etc installed.
 
Yes I did see that feature which is pretty decent, maybe something to consider in the future (after battery upgrade).

Only issue I have now is I've no space under either seat, battery, dc-dc, shunt and main fuses are under drivers and sub under passenger :rolleyes:.

I know you’re really knowledgeable with this stuff. Would my placement of the 1200w multiples below be ok? It’s under the rear bench and the battery will be where the black tray is. Cooling wise it seems more open than your underwear option?

Looks good....

Add long as there is sufficient fresh air flow..IE is not in a box... Or the heat soak will build up.

So make sure you have vents for air to circulate to the rest of the van...

Once fitted start burn testing it.....

Run it at 25% for 15 mins and monitor the inverter, cables, fuses, connections for temp.

Then try 50%

Then try 75%

Then try 100%

....


If any thing is wrong or get too hot, then sorry that it.

The final test should be run out at full load for 45 mins, or as long as the max time they systems might run for.

I'm not a fan of over loading inverters, but if you wanted to you could try an overload to spec ..

IE 120% for 30mins

150% for 2mins.

Thanks for the reply. That’s great, I’ll run those tests. As far as “in a box”. It’s under bench, which has a few holes in it, as well as all the rest of the space, but it does have cushions on top. There is however about 25cm between the inverter and top of the lid. I guess when I’m running I could open the side door to the bench also.

I’ll fit the rest of the components and send an updated photo and run some tests.

You burn in tests will demonstrate if heat buildup will be a problem...

Is it is, then just cut in more air vents.

Is it's still a problem, then add in a 12v fan to force the air to circulate
