EPB Retrofit ... the way to Stop & Go

Hi guys, I’m on my way to install the EPb on my golf 5. The challenge that I faced till others maybe that will come is the button. I bought the edb button from sharan 7N0 B but the central console on golf is not the wide to install. Instead of passat china which I really don’t like is another one like from q3 or passat which is not that wide. Thank you

Thanks for your help Roberto, but I haven't found anything that can solve my problem. I'll continue searching for more information.

Olá pessoal, estou instalando o EBD no meu Golf 5.

You can use 8U, 8K,

Do DSG adaptation over ch 69

Thank you for replying! I've already done the adaptation procedures; for example, if I keep my foot on the brake when the vehicle is stopped or the parking brake is engaged, the DSG transmission doesn't try to engage the clutch and make the vehicle move. This only happens when the vehicle is stopped and being held by the autohold function. Sorry, but I didn't understand what you meant when you mentioned using 8U, 8K.

My EPB is already working on my Jetta PQ35, however I use a DQ250 gearbox and when autohold is active with the vehicle stopped, the gearbox tries to engage. Is there some connection I might have forgotten between the EPB56D module and the gearbox to inform it that the vehicle should not move or engage the clutch with the EPB active?

So, here is my storry
after almost 8 years , when I first time found that EPB - to be honest - I was the first ,:)
fially I made it in my 21 years old Touran
Thank You @Robert and @dnoermann for supporting me , seems "master is asking a student" :)

here is little pictures:
1) My brake calipers from Q3 2016

2) Rear disc is 300mm from Sharan

3) new brake pipes

4) New brake disc shield

5) new brake pads

6) 2,5mm2 silicone cable , is going into the metal pipe when hand brake steel rope is going
so "half way" is still factory :)

I remeber that 8 yesr ago I was more struggling due to swich installation
Mechanical or electrical is easy , but comsetis / interiour is the most important , that is why my project was frozzen for a long time

Sharan EPB swich was too big for me
so I was start with Audi 8K, smaller, but not flat :(
fianlly Q3 8U was the one I install and look qool

but I start t o fit it w/o test and after days I realise is not compatybile with 56D EPB module
MQB swich is ok, but too big for my swich frame was made, so failed too

so I strip down one switch competly to make my own diagram , to see what is need to operate EPB
and look like is very simpel diagram, exactly like ELSA show , but that must be confirm first

here is a simple connection diagram with 2 x ALPS SPVQ9 switch and 4 x diodes typical such as 1N4001 with direction as is show

when that was ready, I decide to make my own PCB to install into Q3 EPB parking swich

To eliminate (P) indicator control over NEGATIVE signal , I did changes on my own PCB switch , so hand brake is ON my cluster show (P)
when YELLOW led in switch flashing due to failtrue for example , my cluster (P) also flashing

One important thinks
EPB EEPROM RESET function almost kill my EPB
almost - because still working but with Bassic settings error ,and that couldt be do
so - DONT TRY THIS function at ALL
got a eeprom from other module and problem gone

also durring this time to fix bassic settings error, I strip down 5 other EPB
8K, 4K audi -DONT BUY it , it look this same, but inside CPU is not this same . so even for donor parts is crap
VOLVO S60 31341542 , also crap for VAG another CPU type
the only one good is Range Rover Evoque BJ32 2c496 AH EPB module
but must be strip down and r/w memory
2nd hand module is not much less that factory 56D, so is no point too

soon need to fix my ECU data so EPB can be operate automaticly , so whole "buton" project will go away :)

So, the epb button from q3 8u is not compatible with 56d epb? For my mk5 was the way to go as others are to big for my center console.
unfortunatelly NOT.
but you can strip down switch and make your own , even with universal PCB
I order another 5 pcs PCB , because found issue on my first one , fix it as you can see (blue paint) , but decide to make proper one
that PCB (RED) fit into 8U swich , order 5 pcs PCB inc shipping is 20-30$
here is a diagram

I made a adapter where I did all cables out from EPB + hand brake from cluster + extra Kl15, Kl30, so no need look deep for EPB , also easy to install new swich w/o re-pin cables

L4 - is LED warning
L1 - button illumination
L11 - Auto Holld button illumination
L2 - Parking Brake LED
GREEN line is a GND line to current cluster when L2 is ON (no need to change cluster to be POSITIVE hand brake like Tiguan / Sharan)

What I know, dsg need to ne adapt for new confirgiration. For exampl dsg fron Passat can be use in other car, but is with epb error, need run function lear to "tell" is NO EPB
I'm not sure if the mechatronics software is from a Passat or a Jetta. I'm also unsure if it originally has autohold. Would there be any problem updating the software to a version that I'm certain originally has autohold?

And where did you enable Autohold, in ABS? What ABS is this ?
So I think that's the problem, right? I'm only finding hill hold in the ABS. The car stays stopped and secured by autohold, my problem is that the transmission doesn't receive this message and engages the DSG clutch while trying to move. The ABS code letters are BM. Would updating to CC give me this option?

Only 56D ABS support, but nobody seen that in reall
You flash your 1K0 to ne 56D??
Even that, we dont know if HW is this same.
