Hold on guys, there is an easier way. See this PDF If you use the gromet shown in the PDF the cabel will come out right behind the battery without having to take it out or remove the panel behind it.
On my 6.1 theres a banking grommet on the bulkhead beneath the pedals. Peeling back the top edge of the carpet reveals it. Very handy and easy to access.
