Fit Pit & BBQ - Floor Protection Mat -

we see these at Camper Site, on the stall selling fire pits. . . .

But he wasn't selling the matts . . . . . OOps . .

maybe next time eh . .

anyway i asked him to demo it.

They are 3 layer and fire/proof.

the top foil layer reflects the heat back up

The middle layer blocks heat transferring down,

and the bottom later is rubbered to stop any moving about and keeps it water proof.

He said he got his from Amazon and it was about 38inches across . .

This was the stall . .

Beer Tip.

again uneven ground can be a pain . . . especially when you need to put your beer down.

This little trick is one from the Car Race weekend scene . . I've done it for years.

- Find location.
- settle down,
- by Beer from Beer tent,
- Remove Boots,
- Put Beer in Boots.
- Finish Beer,
- Put Boots back on,
- Go Home.

this may just be your best ever tip

@Loz. Cheers for that - ordered one from their eBay shop. Weirdly, it's the same price (£18.99) but delivery is included on eBay whereas CampervanBits seem to charge for standard shipping on top if you order from their website. Again, thanks.

Death to mosquitoes.
I also saw them in Attwools on the weekend for £14.95

@Dellmassive @Loz. Cheers for that lads. As I said earlier, I've already ordered one from Campervanbits which should be delivered tomorrow. They emailed me on Saturday to say that they were out of stock and therefore offered me the next one up in the range instead for the same price (selling at £25). That said, wish I'd thought about going to Attwools in the first place as they're only a mile or so from me!

They catch moths, I have loads in my house this year for some reason.

New Beefcake Bug Zapper + nightlight . . . !! ( USB rechargeable )

its like the other ones we have . . . but bigger and better. (just ordered us one for testing)

looks like it has a rechargeable 18650 Lithium battery that charged via the USB cable =]

Would you recomend the bugzapper? I’ve been pondering over whether to get one or not.

@Dellmassive @Loz. Well it arrived and they sent me one of these instead: Outdoor Revolution Lumi-Mosi Killer Lantern
I suspect it's more or less the same thing but slightly bigger and has a larger and more stable flat area to stand on a table if it's not hung up. I've suffered a couple of bites at home over the last few days and therefore left it on mosi kill only mode in the bedroom last night but had to switch it off as the blue light was so bright! We might be testing it out properly when / if we venture down to Mortehoe, North Devon on Sunday for a few days but that might depend on the result of a certain football match tonight and whether or not there's another one worth watching on Sunday. I've already marked my wife's card about it but let's just say she's not impressed and I can see marital disharmony on the horizon.

yes they work well. . .

the bigger version is a beast. . .

we took them both to Camper Site weekender. ( i updated above post with the pics )

Mans-Not-Hot !!! - Cooling Tip when its Hot.

its mid summer 2021 - and Hot (which is nice for the UK)

-

Being to Hot can be uncomfortable especially at night, and defo with a hangover the following morning.

Tents and Vans has ventilation flaps, holes, windows etc etc.

But thats no good when there is no wind (thats the trade off with high pressure and hot sunny weather - no Breeze.)

Our sollution is to take the breeze with us.

This unit is USB powered so will from from a USB battery pack,

or

USB outlet in van,

or

240v main as it comes with a USB power adapter.

This our one . . . connected to the battery bank and keeping me cool.

Meaco do 3 different sizes . . . this is the small one,.

its small but very effective . . . it has a auto left/right feature too. plus a manual up/down tilt.

it has 12 power levels and an OFF timer.

its perfect for the bus, van, office, bedroom, tent.

  • POWERFUL, QUIET COOLING - Efficiently powered by advanced DC technology, the Meaco 360 personal cooling fan is whisper-quiet and ultra-compact for use in any setting. The mini desk fan operates at 15dB, equivalent to normal breathing or a soft whisper, making it ideal for bedrooms, children’s rooms and offices.
  • ULTRA-COMPACT DESIGN - Small enough to fit on a windowsill, our silent desk fan design is perfect for use on bedside tables, office desks and other small spaces. The high-velocity fan is also great for homeschool rooms and home gyms.
  • SMART ENERGY SAVINGS - Our quiet fan is environmentally friendly, designed to use minimal energy while providing optimal coolness. The compact fan also features two power options, using a standard outlet or a USB port on a laptop or power bank. A timer function allows you to have the fan turn off after you fall asleep for greater energy savings.
  • INTUITIVE CONTROL PANEL - Easily adjust the wind speed on the mini fan’s control panel to one of twelve levels for personal comfort. The noiseless fan allows you to turn the oscillation on or off as desired and set timers for usage.
  • TARGETED COOLNESS - The Meaco 360 personal fan oscillates to the left and right creating a breeze to cool your personal space. The angle of the small oscillating fan is also manually adjustable for multi-directional cooling.

And before you ask . . .

Yes we have the Larger Fan to . . . that one is 240v only.

but very low power so can be run off a small inverter.

in fact we have two of the 1056 mode fans . . one downstairs and one upstairs.

and my Pops has the middle 650 size . . . . so across the range we have all of them and very impressed.

The 1056 comes with a remote control and full pan/tilt control, plus 12 speeds and very quite.

we love them.

here together large and small.

Cold Beer - its a must !!!

-

i picked up this tip when abroad years ago in Spain.

The pool bar only served the beer in flimsy cheap plastic cup . . . which was a safety thing due to glass and the pool etc which was fine.

but no good for the beer. . . . it would warm straight away - not good.

Then i see this guy . . get 3x small beers . . the poor them into his metal thermal beer pint thing . . .

Hold - on - WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT !!

why didnt i know about this amazing beer drinkers life saver.

This is what he had. . . . (i have about 6 of them now and always take a couple with me everywhere we go.)

here is two of hours next to a cold one - they take a pint.

1627035563170.png1627035575238.png

Now heres the problem . . .

i took these two out the camping gear to take the above pics. . . . but somehow managed to not - re pack them.o_O

so i ended up at T6F summer camp with no Beer Mug!!!

The thought crossed my mind that i have to go back home and get them (5hr round trip) . . but the wife convinced me the fuel and time cost wasnt worth it.

so . . . . .

Luckily we have Amazon Prime . . . with next day delivery.

we soon had 2x silver and 1x white ordered for the next day ( the thursday b4 the weekend phew !1 ) and had them delivered to the campsite.

The actual delivery was fun too as the campsite postcode took the delivery driver to a farm a mile down the road. . . . long story short we found the famer and got out beer mugs.

Mans-Not-Hot !!! - Cooling Tip when its Hot. v3

this is the 2021 new addition to cooling.

The wife likes it, but i preferer the small Meacao fan.

this one is 240v mains and comes with a long lead - which is nice.

we had ours running of a 3-in-1 battery pack (Ecoflow)

The fan blades are rubber for safety.

there is on/off switch on the back.

here is ours at summer camp last week.

Campsite Hangover Cure

this was a new one on me . .

The T6F Campsite Doctor (who will remain anonymous as apparently he's not a doctor ) gave a packet of the "good stuff"

now I'm no stranger to a banging hangover after a few beers. . . and last weekend was no exception.

Our first aid kit is main fully of paracetamol and alkaseltza . . .plus the odd plaster. - nothing new right?

well in addition to the above the Doctor (whos not a Doctor) prescribed me this . .

Dioralyte . . .

1627036793495.png

thinking the Quack had gone qwackers i mentioned it to the other T6F campers . . . . and . . . . . apparently . . .

its a thing !!! who knew !! - not me anyway.

so here is what the Doctor prescribed.

1: take a basic first aid kit,
we should all have one, as you never know when you will need it.

1627037029070.png

+

2: paracetamol with caffeine-

1627037119659.png

+

3: Alka-seltzer (remember these contain paracelomol, so dont mix them)

1627037213852.png

+

4: Dioralyte Rehydration Supplement

1627037678653.png

+

5: water - we should be drinking 2liters of water a day (more when on the sauce or if its hot)

so get a pack and bung some in the fridge so they are nice and cold.

1627037279142.png

6: Bacon Sandwich ( Not Drs orders but who doesn't like a bacon roll the morning after !! meat or Veggie)

something to do with the salt i think.

1627037473363.png1627037497900.png

so to wrap up. the Doctor (whos not a doctor) said:

keep hydraited - drink lots of water between the beer and prosecco. (but who remembers to do that)

next morning -drink water.

do a cup of dioralyte and a cup of alkaseltza . . .

i think they taste gross, so i put them together in the same mug, then added water and a bit of fruit juice.

sit back and relax for an hour,

eat bacon roll

wait till 1min passed 12:00pm - Drink more beer.

Thanks Doc :mexican wave:

++++++++++++++++++++

there is an easier way . . . . but only when you dont have to drive that day.

Hair - of the Dog : and it totally works.

wake up with hangover - eat bacon roll, drink water - crack a beer open - done.

This works well when we go motor racing, sore head sun morning after sat night? - no worries race track at 10am - beer at 11am.

though ultimately you are just delaying the inevitable . . . and dont do this if you are driving that day.

Campsite Cooler Box Cooling.

Nothing new here so ill be breif . . but might help some of the young-uns.

Static cool boxes are great,

we use them to keep the over stock of beer or food that wont fit in the fridge.

here is our IGLOO cooler box . .

1627042113546.png

The Tip is to get water bottles and fill them up.

then freeze them at home. . . . then put these in the cooler box instead of those ice packs.

1627042188827.png

as the water melts in the bottles in the cooler box it keeps you beer and food cold - but dry.

and the added bonus is that you can drink the cold water after - - - hmm nice.

or

use it for tea or coffee in your kettle.

double extra bonus . . if there is any water left at the end of the trip . . just empty iy out (recycling)

keep the plastic bottles for next time.

this also makes the cooler box lighter to carry home . .

win - win - win

incase you wondering what the black spot is on the front - its a phone magnet thing to keep the bottle opener close to hand. (another top tip -] )

++++

we got out IGLOO from Costco . .

by this one looks similar:
