Hi Kevin, welcome to the forum! I have a question if you don't mind...
I'm looking to add your AMT12-2 trickle charger to maintain my starter battery. My set-up uses a Victron DC-DC charger, so I was wondering if the installation is as simple as connecting the unit at this point, marked in the diagram here?

Trickle charger, it’s a good unit and gaining popularity for the purposeful solution it provides.

You would be correct in connection at this point
3 connections vehicle battery positive, leisure battery positive and common Good negative ground
Use the cable size recommend in the installation installations and some good quality crimped Push fit spade connectors.

The unit is factory programmed
Euro 5/6 smart alternator - regeneration braking where in operation-
program 4/8 in the installation instructions program chart - lead acid - AGM batteries
and suites the new T6.1 vehicle software.
However it can be programmed for different
Battery types - lithium and voltage values for standard alternators- older vehicles
Program chart looks complicated but is easy if you follow the steps.

Hi @Ablemail camper power - I’ve got a slight issue with regards to connecting the AMT-12-2 at the location I intend to install it (see earlier post).

My issue is that I have rather ‘brutish’ 16mm2 sized cable going to into the Victron DC-DC charger and I haven’t left very much slack on the run to add, say a mini junction box for the connection(s).

Do you know if any insulation piercing wire taps/splice connectors exist for 16mm2 cable? - something similar to posi-tap connectors if you are familiar with those?

@Ablemail camper power Hi Kevin. I have an AMS 12 12 30S with the bluetooth dongle running Ver 1.0. My question is when the App is connected (Blue top bar) it does not display information without the engine running. A message 'Awaiting initial device data' is displayed. Is this usual?
 
Hi Kevin, just wondering if you could help with a ablemail query?

I have the dc to dc charger with solar input. It seems to be no longer charging with solar… just checked output from the solar panel and its 20v.

Green light on the charger is on.

Battery reading inside the van is 12.2v….

Any advice would be great.
