Only had the van a few weeks but today whilst driving home from the weekly trip to Go Outdoors I heard my battery to battery charger making a whirring noise. Never heard this before so not sure if there’s something wrong? Panel indicates ‘High Battery Temp’ but not sure if it’s always said this as it’s the first time be looked at the panel (it’s hidden away)

It’s the cooling fan, sounds like a hairdryer. I swapped my Sterling for a fanless Victron.

Ahh right ok thank you. I could maybe understand if I was driving a long time but it was only a half hour journey

Think about it. You start the van, leisure battery is down, charger immediately goes to full output (30A??), within minutes it’s getting hot, the longer you drive, the more the battery charges, the charging current starts to drop off. Ergo, the B2B charger is working hardest at initial startup, hence the cooling fan.
