What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Tried to improve the really low light of a single reversing bulb (tailgate t6). Followed another thread and ordered what I thought was correct LED.

Pic attached?!. What do I need please learned gentlemen? And are there any Luddite friendly aftermarket lights that are plug and play and a fool (me) could install?View attachment 311693left is what was in situ
I am also in same predicament....but different globe for my reversing lights on T6.1.
Anyone with knowledge of what to replace with for more illumination and no error codes?

They are T15 bulbs by the look of it. Should be available in LED from Supercheap or Repco etc in Australia, Just make sure they are CANbus compatible.

They will also likely be polarity sensitive so will only work one way.

Your other cheaper option is Aliexpress but it is a bit hit and miss re quality.

The correct type for that bulb is
W16W
It is written on the bulb.

It should be written also on the backside of the panel that holds the bulbs sockets.
Thank you, Any thoughts on aftermarket mega bright self install units for luddites?

IMG_5294.webpThink these are what is already there. But not that bright still. Anything else brighter available or am I in the ballpark of needing an aftermarket unit fitting?

The one shown here looks like it is for both side light and brake light. (two terminals on the bottom and the pins on the side offset (so the bulb can only be inserted one way). From what I could see on your previous image your reverse light has just a single terminal on the bottom and probably pins equal on opposite sides.

Hmmm, unless I’ve been turned around. I got the good wife to put in reverse and then took this photo. Showing bottom left as reversing light?! Erm…

@sgh I’d recommend putting 35mm Sound Buffler closed cell foam on top of what you have done in the scuttle, it makes a big difference. It may look like it won’t fit but it does. One sheet from the Sound Deadening Shop is just enough.
Is this what you used?

What about these?

Says for barn doors only? I have a tailgate. Would that matter?

I think it is this I'm not keen on putting under scuttle as there will be water ingress. I layered the sound deadening mat to create a fall left and right as to avoid water pooling.

Its not that, as thats not closed cell foam.

Wondering if any after market rigs I can set up. Having one. Even with it being LED seems really dim when using reversing camera. If anyone knows of any plug and play solutions happy to hear

I’ve fitted this in my 2018 T6 and no issues at all. Very easy to swap out and not even a hint of an error code. This is their NZ site but will likely auto direct you to your local page when you click the link: Reversing light LED pack for Volkswagen Multivan / Transporter T6
