What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

After @dErZ egged me on to get rid of the chrome on the grill I finally got myself motivated about to have a go at this.

It’s the first time I’ve wrapped something that I’m relatively pleased with :think smile bounce:

That looks much better. I removed all the silver from the front and rear of my van. Gloss black badge with orange backing and gloss orange trim from VanStyle. Debadged the back and exchanged the silver badge for gloss black.

Do you have a link for where you got the wrap from as it looks colour perfect.

I don't I'm afraid, its been sitting in the back of the garage for well over 10yrs ago when we tried to vinyl wrap the farings on a mates motorbike

Dunno where you're based but I've got more of it, it's a bit creased and crinkled but it smoothed out alright

For all I know it's just mat black though so you might just be able to get some online

I'd like to do something with the chrome VW ones too but not sure what yet, I like the gloss black backing front and back but if I choose a gloss black badge then the backing needs to change.

I like the debadged look too but then I do like the all red TDI so again not sure what to do yet

I’ll have a look online thank you.

I’d never do that, hats off for having go. Like I say looks good to me. I’ve done some bits on mine I’m not proud of.

I wasn’t sure what to do with the short edges so ended up folding them over like you do when wrapping a bday present. It all stuck out a bit but then when I clicked them back onto the grill it seemed to sort itself out

I just finished installing a table in my work-in-progress build. The idea is that it drops down to form a bed:

I used these little things to add a threaded interface to my ply floor for bolting the table leg to:

They’re only a millimetre or so on the underside of the floor:

I tightened them in with a bolt and a washer, which had the nice side effect of the washer biting into the vinyl which finishes the hole pretty tidily in my opinion:

It works really well for attaching the table leg without drilling into the van floor.

However, I think this this table top is too large for a single leg as it’s pretty wobbly. Need to look at stabilising it somehow.

The bottom red stripe was part of the original spec. but the red badge backing, the upper red stripe and the door mirror flashes are a recent additions. I made the mistake of ordering the parts and then viewing the you tube video of how to fit them at a later date. I must be getting really old, because I remember the days when you undid four screws and the grille came off. I cheated and got the boys from the garage down the road to fit them.IMG_20220519_101438.jpgIMG20220518143316.jpgIMG20220518143316.jpgIMG_20220519_101438.jpgIMG20220518143316.jpgIMG20220518143316.jpgIMG_20220519_101438.jpg

Clean the matt then spray WD40 on it and rub it in, leaves it a a nice deep black with slippiness. Is that an actual word???

I've used a bit of Bilthammer APC on it and it came up a treat

It's only going to have dusty or muddy mountain bikes in the back so it won't last :D

Finally finished the lower part of the front end today, a total of 5 pieces. Went gloss black on most so when I change the wrap in about 2 months I don’t have to do all that again + it matches the grill and insets. Next question is do I do the roof gloss black or leave grey??D6CC960C-5F3C-4C3C-BF76-895C8B46C4AD.jpeg0339FB9B-E125-4337-BEF4-C1FD742E41D6.jpegE1CF030C-C5B4-4F49-8A0C-7A5289C22DE0.jpeg
