VB Air Suspension - Let's Discuss...

No not at all !! the product doesn't cause the issue its the excessive lowering which puts the control arms in to positions they shouldn't normally be , this causes the problem . Powerflex make adjustable camber / Castor bushes for the front and rear to help correct the problem but they can only offer another 0.9 degrees max , this often isn't enough ! hope this is a little clearer .

So with said and given the the suspension hasn’t been lowered it can only be the fitting, thanks for the confirmation

OK More confused now Eli the alignment report shows the rear camber being out , if this reading was done with the van at normal ride height ( height you drive the van at daily ) it means the rear hub is damaged or bent fitting suspension cant cause that problem . the rear wheels are mounted on to an independent rear swing arm . its very strong and not easily bent . could be the mounting rubbers on this arm are damaged or worn . get them checked as they are influential to camber . `its only 30 mins ( half a degree) different to the left side but iam confident it isn't the suspension causing that .

Interesting, the California is a brand new (69 plate) with only 7 miles on it when a bought it 6 weeks ago and I was absolutely spot on when it went in for VB. I will be calling VB UK tomorrow as something is clearly wrong

Something as simple as hitting a pot hole could do it , I think you must chat to them , but I think they will also comment about maybe a pothole causing this because changing the shock and spring simply cant , Good luck bud

So booked in again at A & E to check out the set up. Having remeasured the height differences on all 4 corner from the floor through centre of wheel to the top of the wheel arch.

Front Right 747mm
Front Left 733mm
Rear Left 737mm
Rear Right 750mm

You will struggle to find a car that is exactly the same left to right and a few millimetres difference wont hurt. The manufacturers point of view is often varied but up to 10 ,mm they will not even look for a problem . Always measure the car after vigorously rocking it side to side and let it slowly settle , ( this is because the shocks are trying to hold it in a position and it might be lower on the drivers side at that point )

Those figures do look like the difference is too much so they need to check the calibration or pressure in each bag to see if they are indeed the same

For the VB system specifically, you need to be careful as it’s pretty sensitive. For example, if you pull up, turn off the ignition and then get out it’ll be marginally different because you’ve changed the loading after it’s had a chance to adjust. You’ll have to get out first so it can adjust to the reduced load and then turn the ignition off.

You can test the sensitivity just by getting in and out of the passenger seat whilst the engine is running - you’ll hear the hiss of air as it adjusts to the loading.

So I have had VB Air on for 1 month now. Having had so many issues with calibration, I have had 4 recalibration in total, all the inconvenience and tracking issues the cali still wants to pull sharply to the left. The company that fitted the kit wants the vehicle for a week on top of the 3.5 days they have already had to check what is happening with the steering, which I have declined.
So would I do to all again not a chance, I'm sure the self levelling will come in to its own when sleeping in it but the days of not sleeping in far out weight the sleeping days in it and given the £5k price tag I would of been better off either leaving as it was when it left the factory or putting a really good lowering kit.

Have you spoken to VB (UK)?, I'm sure they will be very annoyed about this as well.

There is a VB agent called Mick Lightly near Doncaster (SAP) who is a VB guru, people with motorhomes travel from all over the country to use him, he's probably the best at it.

Might be worth a chat

The kit was fitted by A & E leisure and last Thursday I went to Exploria in Halifax, they had a look and they couldn’t work out why the steering is pulling. So very disappointing really.

i thought A & E was accident and emergency ! oh wait yeh it is
My VB air is almost 6 years old and i think it was the doncaster guy Mick that fitted it new in 2014 No issues...
Yes it was SAP

Have you tried swapping the wheels around?

Having had so many issues
That’s really disappointing. We think ours is great all round; the lowering, self levelling, raising, the ride. There must be something wrong with the fitment to your van.

I have had 2 different company's look at it, which is why its dissappointing

I had mine fitted a few months at Rosmia.
Got to admit i wasn’t overly impressed with service.
My date of booking was changed a few days before which messed me about as had a hire van sorted.
When asking for a demo the guy that fitted it didn’t know how to put it in auto level which was a bit worrying.
Basically didn’t know he had to turn van off for auto level to work.
Thanks Also Salty Spuds as didn’t know not to put handbrake on at first when using auto level.
Any how my main problem was my led headlights.
Was getting flashed all the time by drivers thinking my full beam was on.
Rang up Rosmia telling my problem and they said to bring it down.
This would of mean a 4hour round trip and a day off work as not open Saturdays.
Spending over 5 grand wasn’t really happy with costing me more time and loss of money.
I rang up vb air uk as wanted to make sure what i needed as others on here had said you need an led module fitted and Rosmia didn’t know what i was talking about?
The guy at vb air said yes you need an extra led module for headlights which is about £16.00
He rang up Rosmia and within an hour had a phone call back from them saying we can send an engineer out to you to my home address as they have a mobile fitter which I didn’t know.
Straight away he could see it was to low at the back, about 40mm and recalibrated it by jacking it up.
Not sure if i could of put any strain on the back as was driving around in sport mode for a couple of weeks which lowers it even more as already set 40mm lower?
Lights are fine now but no extra led module was fitted?
Still none the wiser about the led module but so long as all fine I’m not fussed
Spending all that money though you expect it done right at first!
