Does anyone have any feedback on the Air+ Suspension? It looks like a good fit for what I want but it is new to the market, so I am wondering if anyone has had it fitted yet?

We've done around 20 installs now. All SoLow kit and management, our own demo van has it on as well as @jamieamo @Texxaco @Nutexa Frictions and a few other forum members I can't seem to tag. Excellent kit. 2 options SoLow Air or SoLow Air+ depending on your requirements. Give us a call I'm happy to discuss and answer any questions

Lowdown Transporters are on your doorstep mate so give them a call and get some cutting done while you are there.

I haven’t got the Air+, but am running solow bags and management.

Really impressed with drive and ease of use
On management kit. Highly recommend @Dav-Tec to fit also

The only downside with Lowdown Transporter is you only get a 12 months warranty if they install your Solow air. I found this out the other day when I needed a warranty replacement. THQ told me they haven’t done the THQ installer accreditation course.

If you use an accredited installer you get 24 months warranty.

I've said this before, but there still seems to be confusion. SoLow approval doesn't include air installs. It covers the install of static suspension such as coil overs, lowering springs etc.

There is no approval for SoLow air. Or at least that's what all of us SoLow approved installers were told during our approval training. Perhaps @Solow Suspension can correct me if I'm wrong.

When it comes to air suspension you need to talk to people who have had it fitted, find direct recommendations, look into the reputation of the company you are considering etc, much like the recommendations given above.

I think Lowdown no how to bag a van. They have been in the game so long and even have their own spec Solow rear bags so I'm sure they don't need a certificate :slow rofl:

I picked up my van at the weekend, having gone for a Solow Air+ install with Air Lift 3P management.
Initial impressions -
  • Chris @ lowdown transporters is a sound guy to deal with
  • The van is now smoother than with the stance plus it replaced
  • The range of heights is really impressive with the Air+
  • The 3P might well be sufficient for what I need
I am struggling to get the management to take a firmware update, but other than that it is a good introduction to air suspension so far!

Airlift have had an issue with their app recently on certain devices.

Wouldn't update a customers system couple of weeks back on my Samsung S23 Ultra but would do it off my Samsung tablet.

Try using another device should sort it

Thanks I'll give that a go. My phone is a pixel 7, but I have got others that I can try...

Are SoLow air suspension primarily concerned with the dropped or slammed effect as the name might suggest?
My intended use is for Off Road at razed heights with auto levelling for parking up. My preferred road height for driving is standard Caravelle or even Transporter ride height. Getting under car park barriers is the only time that i could envisage doping height or possibly getting around multi storey car parks.

Does SoLow air suspension only use Bilstein dampers? My preferred dampers are Koni adjustable.

I had intended to switch to air suspension quite some time ago but then COVID came along and our separation from the EU limited my ambitions. i was also not quite convinced that having various bump stops ground of the rear suspension and swinging arm as the main provider then did this. It seamed a bit extreme to me.

Speak to Chris @ the van cave he’s your man for all types of air suspension .

SoLow Air+ lifts to +15mm higher than standard at full lift, but like any air suspension kit, you can’t use that as a daily drive height, only when you really need it.

I’ve got a kit that is perfect for you though. It’ll lift up to 60mm higher than standard ride height at maximum, ride comfortably all day long at up to 35mm higher than standard ride height, yet drop to about 110mm lower than standard when aired out. That’s more than you’ll ever need for getting into cars parks. It uses Bilstein rather than Koni dampers, but the quality of the kit is outstanding.

No trailing arm cutting is required, just a very small amount removed from the bump stops. This isn’t a problem though and can easily be put back to standard if required. We’ve actually done this for a couple of customers who were going back to a standard setup to sell their vans on.

I can pair that with auto levelling management to give you everything you need.

I also still have a build spot available before the Christmas break, so can do it fairly soon.

Just drop us a message or email chris@thevancave.co.uk for more information.

Thank you for your replies, F2JON and The Van Cave.

Things have moved on over the years. I think that the offering from the Van Cave, seems very comprehensive and I am sure well put together but does it have auto levelling? I am very keen on adjustable damping. I am a strong advocate of Koni and have used them on various vehicles for many years. I have seen that some Bilstein shock absorbers/dampers do have adjustable damping but I know little about them. From what I have seen they appear to be used for shortened use but I am not too sure. I think that they may have had the adjusters at one end on a thumb wheel?

I assume by auto levelling that you mean when parked on uneven ground the suspension will adjust all four corners to level the van. Yes, I have a management option that can do this. You just park up, press “level car” and the system will automatically bring the van level, within the limits of travel available and the effect of the anti roll bars.

I only have one air suspension kit that uses damping rate adjustable shocks, which is airlift and I think they make their own shocks, but they don’t do a kit to run at raised ride heights, only lowered.

I have two lift kit options, one uses Bilstein dampers and is assembled in the UK, the other uses KW dampers and is assembled in Germany. Both use high quality continental bags, but neither have adjustable damping.
