Don't know if VW will go hybrid eventually or straight to Electricity or even Hydrogen fuel Cell (which I doubt), but this looks superb. Extra grunt and 4 wheel drive only when you need it; plus all this torque won't destroy your dsg/drive train as it is split. I can't imagine what it would cost as a conversion??????

At least they wouldn't suffer from limited battery range and would glide nicely at low speed

Vw said the next generation t7 will be a petrol electric hybrid. Probably still offer diesel engines but the Euro 7 emissions are very very strict. So strict diesels will be phased out.

Yep, it is the end of diesels for smaller vehicles. I won't be buying another diesel, either car or van.

Renault have just announced they aren't spending anymore R&D on diesels, its all going on alternative energy sources, and I guess most other manufactures are the same. Diesel engines have cost VW group very very very dear in the last couple of years, I don't think they have bottomed the fines/compensation claims from the USA and the rest of the world by a long way.

So long as it is still at the pumps for maybe another 20 years it wont bother me.
