Tailgate not pulling closed on power-closing latch

Me again sorry !! Recently bought a t6 caravelle but noticed the tailgate not closing properly, still moves a good few mm when shut, at first I thought it was just a worn catch but then I looked on the forum and seen some have power latch soft close, is there any way I can tell if it’s got it and any advice on getting it working if it has or if it does have it and it’s not working could I fit a normal catch as a quick fix for a minute

Your local vW Parts Dept should be able to tell you what you need from your Reg number.

The soft close module is fixed to the he nearside rear wheel arch if you have one - near where the jack is fixed

No it was the locking mechanism at the bottom of the tailgate. The bit that latches inagainst the striker plate. I will send 2 photos.

1st pic is the new assembly fitted. 2nd are of the old assembly, plus label with part number for my assembly.
